I will be installing a new transom mount transducer on top of a pieces of starboard per Bob and others recommandation, I would still like to mechanically attach the starboard to the boat. I know from when I installed my kicker bracket that the transom is not core all the way across and was able to mount it into the none core area. It was easy to find the transition between the thicker cored area and the thinner solid fiberglass area on each side of transom but there is no apparent transition on the bottom. Any one know if the transom is core all the way down (2006 CD22 with removable cockpit floor board). _________________ Stephan

In boats I have checked the core goes almost all the way to the bottom; approximately one inch from the bottom. I have done the core removal& epoxy treatment. _________________ Bob Austin

I have a SternSaver on my boat. It is epoxied in place with the stuff included in the kit. Mechanically attaching it (or something similar) kinda defeats the purpose of having it (i.e. no hull perforations). |

My boat is a 2003 and there was no area at the bottom of the transom that didn't have core. I don't remember now if the hull core went under the transom core, or if it butted up to it. There was some kind of filler that was used to fill the gaps. _________________ Clay on Hammerhead

I mounted my stuff on a starboard forever ago (decades) with 4200 or 5200 and it hasn't come off and probably never will. |
