I'm winterizing my 2017 Yamaha 115 today and found that my propeller has a considerable amount of corrosion on the back that faces the engine. its an aluminum prop. Is there an anode I should be looking for. Everything else looks great, just the back of the prop that sits on that bearing. Thanks |

A photo would be very helpful.. Are you leaving the prop in the water when the boat Is left in the water? What type of water are you boating in. Is a 110 volt AC system plugged in when the boat is in the water?
It could be Cavitation (Basically boiling water in a low pressure area-as opposed to "Ventilation" where air is reaching the blades of the prop because of improper flow or trim.
It could break electrolysis/or Corrosion. _________________ Bob Austin

I might have been something I did at the beginning of last season, I may not have tightened it down enough. I realize now it came off too easy. Time to get a torque wrench. I didn't take a picture, Its always raised out of the water when at the dock and a lot of time when its not running and there is no ac within 75 feet. Thanks for the reply. |

It is possible that if the distance from the hub perhaps with an improper thrust washer, could cause more turbulence and the lower pressure?
When you get a chance take a photo. |
