Aluminum
Max rpm 5000 = 30 mph
Any thoughts? _________________ 2004 16 Cruiser with 2019 50 Yamaha

Just FYI: Props can also be repaired.
OR,
You could still get a new one in addition to this one being repaired, and then use it as a spare. _________________ James Salay - Real Estate Broker / Investor, Engineer, Artist, Fisherman, Canyoneer, Outdoor Enthusiast

If you're getting 30 mph with this one, you're doing real good with this size prop. Stick with this size and maybe slow down. _________________ MartyP

Not really looking for more speed but better efficiency
would a 15 1/4 X 17 allow higher RPM that the 15 1/2 X 15? |

Holy Cow (30mph!)
I get about 24-26 tops in my 16' cruiser with a Honda 40. I don't know my prop specs. I do get excellent mileage. |

15 1/4 x 17 would probably give less speed and reduced rpm = less efficiency |

Sounds like I will buy the same as I had 13 1/2 x 15 for the replacement. Guess I just got lucky as that was what came with the motor. |

My 16 Angler maxes out at 24 mph with me, the wife, and an ice chest, at low elevation. About 5200 rpm, but I don't remember the specs of the prop. I actually had the pitch reduced by a prop shop shortly after I got the boat. |

received a new Solas prop 13 1/2" X 15
Now highest rpm is 4400 and top speed is 24mph
This is exactly the same size as the original Yamaha. I lost 600 RPM and 6 MPH?
Solas is sending me a 14" X 11 pitch. Will this get me in the right direction.
I noticed the blade shape of the Aluminum Yamaha is slightly different that the blade of the Aluminum Yamaha. Went with the Solas as I thought that might be a upgrade.
Any thoughts? |

Personally, I think your motor is better off at 4400 rpm and you are safer at 24mph. Just my take. |

4400 rpm is taxing the motor. It needs to be able to turn the 5200 or so rpm, even if you do not run it there. Perhaps the new prop you have on order will do it. Hopefully it will not allow too high revs |
