Seahorse,

I can understand two warranty claims since one was replacing the oil tank early on to try to correct the no oil alarm (which didn't work), and the second was another oil tank to replace the one that was full of XD-100 when they wanted me to switch to Skidoo XPS-100.

All the other work was purely troubleshooting to see why it was doing what it was doing. The software update I don't have came out after I put the boat up for the winter so I am waiting for the first sign of breakup and then haul it out to be updated.

My comment about the operating temperature being 20 degrees on the cool side came from the engine data dump. I haven't seen the printout, but my first trip out in the spring will be with notebook, software, and cell phone before 5:00 PM central time so I can talk with BRP real time about what the engine is saying.

I'd like to see an actual thermometer reading to go along with the "EMM" figures... Perhaps the conflict is with a sensor...

The updated software does address a "false code 38" no oil fault during low temp operation.

It does not address the low operating temp (or "perceived" low operating temp) Obviously, there is more work to be done there...

Isn't it spring yet? Razz

Before you run the motor next time, have the dealer use a laptop, not a PDA, to print out the engine report. It will graph the temp range. Also, they should inspect the pressure relief valve as that is the only other thing that would make the engine run cool, if the thermostat is working and installed correctly.

Then go on a test run with a tech and a cell phone.

Dick- When I priced out the E-Techs they were 100$ more than Honda 50s . That had some impact on my decision. But mostly I was chicken of spending some major coin on something that has not been time tested. Id be less apprehensive now that a few brats have them. The idea of them seems sound. But I wish they had a two stroke price. Maybe they are a little cheaper now. That 3 year no maintainance sounds nice.......But doesn't sound like its working out for the cold weather guys. Its going to be a difficult decision . Flip a coin?

Seahorse was my "handle" since the mid '60's when CB was just getting popular, plus I like outboards.

Just picked up the boat yesterday from EQ with the new 60 ETEC installed. I'm in LOVE!!!! Got the first run on it and it was the perfect choice for this boat. with a 17 pitch prop and moderatly light load she did a little better that 34mph @ 5500 rpm. Les thought that his first guess on prop might be a bit steep but better too steep than too shallow. We switched it out for a 15 pitch after the run. Should be able to hit 5900 @ WOT now and a bit faster. (like I need to go any faster in this thing) didn't write down exact fuel flow figures but roughly 6mpg @ WOT. Very very cool. can't wait to get her on the water again this weekend.

Norm...another 500 rpm with differant prop..... you better get your flying out of your systems when wearing the blue uniform.... but, yep, I think the next prop should be better...particuarly when loaded a bit heavier. Over 30 on that flat bottom is fast.... must be some smooth water I hope or you will bruise your beer. Beer
