After doing a bunch of reading on these forums.. we went ahead and put a bench seating arrangement into the cockpit of our 26' CC/Venture. Thanks for all the information / inputs.

This will fold up, out of the way- set-up as a bench seat.. or lie flat as a bed.

I also got some additional teak - and added a side-shelf and two jump seats.. that also help in increasing the width of the step-in.

Photos in our album.. and high recommendation to work with Mike @ Butler Marine Products in PA.. if there's any interest. The mostly make teak swim platforms -- but was very easy to work with and quality/execution was first-rate.

Any ??, happy to PM

Jeff

Jeff,
Beautiful workmanship and a great addition to the boat. Thanks for sharing.

Did understand that you wrapped the hull? If so how did that work out with Erie Canal and the bags around the fenders?

The boat looks really nice.

uh-oh.. what'd I do?

The quick answer is that everything worked out very well on the trip, etc.. but, I'd want to understand if 'wrapped the hull' -- raises a concern I didn't consider?

As you know.. it's amateur hour up here.. so I'd certainly welcome any concerns or considerations I may have overlooked?

thanks- Jeff

Wrap: Some boaters put a vinyl film over the entire hull, like a shrink wrap. It can be graphics or a solid color. It is much cheaper than painting or gel coating...

There was one comment that made me think that you might have done this. If not--the boat looks great anyway!

aahh... so if you are talking about the hull covering / bottom paint -- we used 'Coppercoat' -- which is a an epoxy paint.. with high-copper content. Low-leach epoxy.. stated to last 10-15year.. and the #1 rated environmental product we could find.

So far so good with the coppercoat.. but again, please clarify that I'm understanding.. or advise if there is another aspect or concern.

Tremendous respect for your experience and perspective.

thx- Jeff

The topsides (area between the boot stripe or waterline and the deck). of the hull itself-the black part in your case. If you had it done, you would know about it.

We understand about your use of the epoxy/copper bottom paint. How it holds up will be interesting--and I think in your case it will hold up well.

gotcha..

that was that way when I got it.. and I was told it had been cone as a 'custom color' at manufacture (cape cruiser).-- so that's original.

I haven't gotten to anything 'aesthetic' -- and probably still a long ways out for doing that type of thing (if ever.. ) -- lots of fun functional things to still address in the coming seasons.

thx- Jeff
