Hi all, as things seem to be improving I was wondering what the best sources of information are for finding out if one can cross from Canada to the US as a Canadian in a boat...
If one has had both vaccine doses, do you need a negative test etc etc. Thinking about heading to the San Juans in July if possible. _________________ Mike and Monica Jackson, Victoria, BC

Normally, (Pre Covid 19) you would not have to check out with the country you are leaving, (Canada) nor would we need to check out from USA, BUT, you do have to get back into the country you left from, (Country of origin), so for now (Covid times) Tom is right, you will probably need to check with Canada Customs to see how you get back into your country. You also will need to check with US Customs to see IF they will let you in over here. (Good Question and I'm not guessing an answer). You may have to quarantine for 14 days down here, and you may have to do that getting back into Canada as well. A Canadian friend of mine had to quarantine in Vancouver, before returning to the Island coming home from India.

In international cruising, it is the NORM, to check out of a country—and in many countries even out of a port, and into the next port. It is easy, because there is reciprocity between Canada and the USA. If you go to Mexico, you will be dealing with import permits, crew lists, ship’s manifest, fishing license, even if not fishing.
Be thankful for what you have.!!! _________________ Bob Austin

Amen.
And, MikeJ, if you decide to come down, can I stow away on your boat when you go back north. I need a Canada Fix. Hopefully by July 1
