Hi all,

I have a 2001 Honda BF90 that has the serial BBBL-420XXXX.

When I try to look up parts for this anywhere none of the serial numbers go back that far. It appears there are only parts listed with Honda Marine from 2004 and up.

Is there anyplace where I can get a parts list or look up parts for this year?

I realize that most things are similar if not identical. But I'd like to know for sure.

Thanks,

JF

Hi,

Thanks for that. I had stumbled across that but it's incredibly incomplete.

The problem I'm finding is that if they don't sell it then it isn't listed. If it isn't listed then I can't get an OEM number so I can't cross reference it.

What do dealers do? I work in the motorcycle industry and there are cross reference and parts manuals for bikes since day one.

Thanks for the help though. I'll keep poking.

JF,
I work on outboards a lot, so I too often deal with parts issues. It is interesting that sometimes a part is listed as not available and often times has no diagram photo on the various sites. This type of issue applies to all makes...
I recently was looking for a Honda 90 hp 2005. I ended up looking the specific up on Honda's support site, then shopping for the specificities part on line, through another vendor (Partspak.com).
Anyway, the Honda 90 is the same engine, from 1999 until 2005. Before that, the lower units were slightly different and after that, it was a complete new engine with fuel injection.

Thanks again. I think I pretty much knew that but wasn't sure.

I'm used to working on lots of older bikes and cars and you see OEM references and things like part XXX was superseded by part YYY. Tech bulletins about changes by year, etc.

I'll keep this 90 running as long as I can find parts. It's quiet, fuel efficient, low polluting, and just as good as any newer 4-stroke. Carb v. EFI arguments aside...

I'll keep poking around and add part numbers to my list as I find them.

It's frustrating to have to work so hard for consumable parts like anodes. I've found more incorrect information (and parts) than correct ones.
