We have moved to Montana and will soon sell our boat. I don't want to sell it without providing new owners some of the information about 18 footers. The only articles I have read have been on The C-Brats website. I read one post where the poster said to check out the reference forum for good history information. I can't find a reference forum. I also would like to contact someone that posts about an 18' C-Dory that he bought, sold and bought again. I know his name but, I'm not sure how to contact him on this site without going through the member list one by one. any help is appreciated. Thanks

I believe "Byrd Man" is the one you want. Also go to the "Our Dorys" and do a search for the 18's. In the PDF section about the boats, there is literature about the 18's.

Here is one 16, a different version than what you are looking for. This one is Voyager, by Oldgrowth Dave, and it is a stretched 16.

Bob is right, the one you are looking for is owned by Patrick Byrd, as Byrdman, here on the Brat site. He travels a bit and doesn't post often, but an email or PM might get to him at some point.

Howdie. Been a bit busy and catching up on some things.
Yes I owned the last of the 14 hulls built by the Toland family.
More accurately I owned it twice,
Awesome, very classy n sassy hull she was and is.
The current owner is a collector in GA
He followed my purchase of the hull and the total restoration there of.
He at the time I sold her the first time was not in a spot to purchase the hull, but, the second time around we hooked up.
I feel great about who owns her now.
I bought her back on the day our family estate was settled after the passing of Momma Byrd, and the same exact day a gentleman in TN who had bought my 16 Cruiser was selling the 18Angler as his father in law was moving into a nursing home. I had sent him an online check before we hung the phone up as we had not talked with each other in several years.
Many of you knew Momma Byrd.... as she blessed us with a open door & docks for our Cumberland River gatherings, and of course the C-Dory Open House Pirates year visit which included her doing the TITANTIC flying wings on the Argosy Lake and Locks cruise we did a few years around our gatherings for the Seattle Boat show.
Well Momma Byrd and I enjoyed several slow displacement hull speed days on the cold winter days on the Cumberland River all buttoned up under her complete enclosure and well heated.... and we tossed in a bit or Crown Royal and Frank Sinatra for icing on the cake so to speak. Oh what memories.
Well, the second time around my memories were too strong and deep of such a wonderful person and I could not go out without many tears. So when I posted her for sale up here in WA the only contacts were mostly insults as to her real value.... I was not going to give the boat away and the gentleman from GA contacted me once I had her back in TN. After a few emails and a call or two I found out he had been a lurker and followed Hull # 18's path from me digging her out of a partially fallen shed totally entombed in thorn bushes.... to me hauling her back to TN. It was a no brainer for me as he understood exactly what a special boat that was particularly after I saw some of his previous rebuild projects. So she is being loved and cared for on our south eastern coast in GA now. I have a couple of items I have found and I need to bring them to him. Looking forward to that day. I will return your email with a history link on Marben/C-Dory up thru the Tolands once I put my fingers and eyes on it too.
