Judy has just written (from her journals) about our trip to the South Pacific. A sailboat, Our Journey, not a C-Dory. Here's the link: To the South Pacific.
Learning, fun ,experiences, all the pathos you would want. And sitting together for 25 days.
If I say so myself (and I am,) an interesting and thrilling read.

Boris thanks for sharing. Nicely written story. I had to laugh, because back a number of years ago there was a Catalina 36 on the same gangway in Alamitos Bay who was going to attempt a trip to Mexico, and perhaps beyond. we wondered if the Catalina 36 would be suitable. Lots of fin keel boats doing this type of sailing, but we had decided before our first long cruise in 1982 to go to full keel although every boat I had owned before then had a fin keel.
I may have missed it, but did you all have a water maker? Did you have the 80 gallon water tank--or more added? How about fuel? (I believe somewhere in the 25 to 30 was standard?

Bob, Our Journey was the best boat we could have taken to the SoPac. The 36 was something the 2 of us could handle, while some people had trouble double handing larger boats. And the boat sailed well; we obviously know only a fin keel offshore, but it never broached in the squalls or down a big wave. Also we had the only new boat in our group, but the Catalina was cheap compared to some others. Great boat.
Yes we had a watermaker, made ~2 gph, so it was for drinking only. Turns out that the hull sucked air under, we think, so it needed repriming every hour or so. And the standard fuel tankage was 30 gal, so I added a bladder and on-deck cans. We left with ~90 gal, less than anybody else, but we sailed most of the way. Arrived with 50 gal left. BTW, the bladder burst just off Manihi.
Thanks for asking.

Boris-Thanks for posting this wonderful journey. I have found respite from my Covid isolation by following sailing adventures on Youtube. My favorite, beside yours, is Holly Martin's singlehanding trip on her 27 foot sloop "Gecko". She sailed from New England through the Panama Canal to the Marquesas. I believe she is now continuing to circumnavigate the globe. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCnJ3QXRI-whcqJBrW-z_htw _________________ MartyP

Boris, much thanks for posting the link to Judy’s account of the two of you adventuring to the South Pacific. It was extremely enjoyable to read & well showed how such adventures can have their extreme ups downs, but overall memories to treasure.
