Deposit has been sent to Sportcraft in Portland for re-powering Daydream with a new Suzuki 200. VERY reasonable price for engine, digital panel, and installation, thanks Tyboo for pointing us in that direction! Local place only had Yamaha 200s, and quoted $6,500 higher price, even after "Boat Show Discount"! Not sure when we will be towing south, but looking forward to it!

Sportcraft is a great shop, bought several boats from them and used their service department too. Top shop in my opinion!

I too can recommend Sportcraft , both their sales, and their service.

Congratulations Pat. You will love the Suzuki 200 and not have to worry about having to change the timing belt because it is chain driven. Good choice of motor and with going to Sportcraft Marina. Sportcraft not only installed the motors on our boat but also did the marine electronics and radar installation. They do good work.

Pat, I think you’ll like the Suzuki, and the team at Sportcraft. My only other comment is to make certain you get a good walk through with the digital panel. I found it a bit difficult to initially understand.

Best to you and Patty!

Steve

Congratulations. You will really "scoot" with the 200 Suzuki! I had priced them out also back a ways, and it was less than the others. Get the SS Prop with the money you saved!

I really wish Suzuki would bring their dual rotating prop to the 250 -200 range. I have a friend with the 350 on his sea sport and he gets better mpg then I do with my 225 honda on the same size boat ( 27 to his 26 deep v) > I think is a real game changer for the industry.

Hey, Pat and Patty, that's really cool news. But are our "slow cruisers" about to fashion a personality makeover?

That 200 will be great Pat, now you can get on plane when you do the Great Loop again.

I always tell the sales department they are competing with the world when I ask for a quote. Often, I will even call them back and share the quote I got from another place and give them a second chance. You'd be surprised, a lot of times it really helps and they are willing (reluctantly) to operate on a different metric. Sometimes though, they just say you should buy it at the other place and you can bet I do. With that said, I really like local, but when local has ridiculous margins and are literally screwing people because they feel they can, then it is time to shop outside.

Pat,
Glad to see you decided to go with the 200. As you might remember we have a Yammi 200 and having that extra power is great. And if I had to replace it everyone has been high on the Zukis. Better warranty and price.

Talked to Tim at Sportcraft yesterday, the Suzuki has been ordered, he expects it to arrive in the first two or three weeks of February, and he will need the boat for about three days. So we are thinking we will stay in an RV park in our camper, and also get in some grandchildren time. The Sportcraft shop is in Milwaukie, OR, which by good fortune is where our son and grandchildren also live!
