|
|
Hi I'm a new comer so go easy on me.
I have followed many threads concerning Wallis Stove/heater issues and particularly what is the best fuel to use.
I have a 2008 Dory which the original owner took the upgrade to a Wallis stove heater. However, I do not know what model of Wallis stove/heater it is! The plastic fuel container smells more of Kerosene than it does of diesel but I want to be sure before I switch the fuel out. Currently after a long period of use it does not want to start so Im trying to trouble shoot. I will go through the reset attempt, check the voltage etc but first I want to put fresh fuel in it and drain the fuel line to see if that will get it working. Appreciate any way of confirming what model I have and any suggestions. |

I have found quick response and qualified answers by calling Scan Marine.

I have a 2008 C-Dory as well with the Wallas stove/heater and it runs on kerosene. Had to go through the reset start sequence once. Easy to do. Good luck. _________________ Rolly |

Thanks Rolly. That’s what I thought it smelt like. Apparently the stove will run on either fuel but kerosene is cleaner and less prone to “going off”. I think this kerosene has been in the plastic jug for >6 years so is probably past it’s best before date! |

The "diesel" heaters will run on kerosene--(#1 diesel is kerosene). So put in fresh kerosene, Check to be sure the battery voltage is up to 12.6 minimum--probably best to have the charger on it.
See if fuel is pumping--you allow a small bubble in the pickup tubing and watch to see if it moves up the column. I have seen several where the nut holding the tubing to the pump is loose, and air is being sucked in.
Do the lights come one? Can you hear the pump? (Clicking sound) _________________ Bob Austin
