The are fabulous large stoves that will really heat your boat - like really heat it. They are also very simple and do not have any electronics. Some of them double as a hot water heater. They show up frequently up here for sale. I have been on a boat with one and it will cook you out of it even in winter with the door open. |

Sure would be sweet if Dickinson made a small diesel heater/ range that would fit in a Cdory. I spent some time on an old WWII merchant vessel that was operated by the US Fish & Wildlife Service in AK that had one of the larger Dickinson cook ranges in it. It was amazing how well it heated such a large space. |

The Newport Bulkhead Mount Diesel Heater is small enough to work in a C Dory 22 or 25. But they are a single point source of heat like the Wallas;
We had the Alaskan heater on one of our cruising sailboats--I put a draft fan and then a circulating fan in, but basically it would heat the lower saloon and to some degree the pilot house. Staterooms, not enough flow to get beyond a relatively small area.
The forced air or hydronic heaters are really better in the long run, just not as romantic... _________________ Bob Austin
