I was told I should use kerosene in the Wallas diesel stove, instead of diesel. Apparently you don't have to be as careful about letting kerosene sit for long time periods, it won't gum up the works like diesel can.

The question is, if I have a little diesel in the bottom of the Wallas fuel tank, is it okay to just add kerosene to it, or should I drain the diesel first?

Thanks,

Tom on the Caution Horse

Yep. They sure do. Don't know how that would behave in the Wallas. I do not own one.

No problem with kerosene and diesel. #1 diesel is very close to kerosene in fractionation. Kerosene is just more refined than diesel--and lamp oil (which I use in the Wallas) is more refined than the Kerosene.

Excellent, thanks thataway.

By the way, Kerosene seems to be about twice the price as diesel. Is it worth it?

Karl says:

Use the diesel, juz the deeeeeezel! Evidently the extra oiliness of the diesel is important for the pump lubrication. Of course the extra oiliness is one of the reasons for the black soot and reason many want to get away from it . . . It is what it is.
