And... the next subject in trying to crawl inside my dad's mind...

The prop he's got on the boat (and I didn't run across any other spare or extra props in his stuff) is a 3-blade 11p Power Tech SS prop. This is on a 22 cruiser... with a single 4-stroke 90hp Yamaha (2006 - 40 hrs).

Nothing I've read in here suggests an 11p would be an appropriate prop for this boat - but one thing I know about my dad is he didn't do things haphazard, so I'm thinking he probably had some sort of well intentioned reason for choosing 11p. I know he wouldn't necessarily care about high-end speed... I also know he usually used (or intended to use) the boat at higher altitude (Lake Tahoe and Pyramid Lake)... I would THINK he would care about fuel efficiency, but that wouldn't drive him towards an 11p?? I don't know, I'm kind of scratching my head on this one.

One thing for sure - he used the boat 98% for fishing. Could it be he chose 11p so it'd be easier to troll without a separate kicker or trolling motor? Thoughts would be appreciated. I'm guessing a new prop will be in the list somewhere, but again I'd like to understand what he might have been thinking if possible.

Thanks.

I recently orderered A 14 X 11 4 blade SS prop for an ETEC pushing a 19 foot anlger. I cannot get over 4400 RPM with the 13.5 x 15P from turning point, they atre letting me do a pitch exchange for $35. Maybe your pop was having a similar issue.

Gary, my guess is he wanted the motor to be able to reach recommended RPM at wide open throttle.

Most likely for the high altitude. I tried an 11" both on my C Dory 22 (would have been fine for Yellowstone, but too low a pitch for Powell). And on the C Dory 25--it was an ideal prop for Powell with the Honda 130 (same block as the 115).

Thanks all. I've got some testing on the "to-do" list!
