In an exuberant moment, my friend somehow broke off the the handle that tightens the hinge arm on the centering opening window on my 2004 22 cruiser. Now , of course, the window can't be left in an open position. Does anyone know where I should try to get a replacement. From the factory? From Diamond Sea Glaze, which I believe is the manufacturer?
Thanks... |

You can probably get it from either place, but if it was me I would check with the factory first. _________________ Dave

Rosy B/Gary: Sorry to hear about the accident, but it is great you and your friends are out loving and using your boat. They had a lot of odd and ends at the factory so I would for sure aske there 1st. Who knows what they have laying around. |

I called the factory to get a second telescoping hatch adjuster so I could have two instead of just one holding the center window open. Offshore when fishing, if it's rough, with just one, the window slowly closes. They weren't very helpful and said I should call their supplier in Canada (forgot their name) and it would cost about $90 US!
I passed on that & figured I could get it from West Marine, probably for a lot less money............. let me know how you make out. _________________ Roger on the

Roger and Gary:
A simple solution for both problems is to remove the rod from the window. Using a drill press drill several holes about 1-1/2"s along the rod that would run left to right with the rod mounted. I use a finish nail with a slight bend in it. Open the window and slide the finish nail thru the hole and allow it to rest outside the window frame. This will keep the window open in any position when the going gets rough. No need for the plastic adjuster knob. _________________ Chris |

C-Weed / Chris: Great idea. Also, that picture of C-Weed on Thanksgiving 2005 is an awesome picture. My guess is it is a sun set rather than sun rise due to the lack of moister in the air. What lake were you on?

There is a pic of a slightly fancier pin you can use in the Widget album. Works great. _________________ Moxieabs on WIDGET |

Here is the picture Moxie was talking about...
Great idea to use a standard R clip! But I would put a piece of fishing line on it attached to the hinge so you don't loose it! _________________ Gary Johnson

Thanks for the good suggestions--the cotter pin concept is an elegant solution. Simpler is definitely better!

Byrdman:
The same lake ol FreeByrd floats on... I would have thought we would have bumped into each other by now. That weekend I demo'd the boat for a couple down from Huntsville. Impressed, they ended up finding a 2000 22' at Three Rivers Marine. One with the six passenger seating. Maybe when they get done customizing their baby they might sign up and say hey. |
