I'm with "Johnbenj" on this issue and add that if nothing else is discovered in a survey of all the normal protocols, it has to be the "ethanol fuel". Have a read of the post I authored several years back that describes the problem, what needs to be done, and how to prevent it from occuring again in the future! _________________ Barry Rietz

Quote: | Anyone have any ideas on what could be wrong? Not taking it back to the idiots who worked on it, would like to find an authorized Honda outboard dealer/mechanic shop. Any good recommendations in the fort Walton beach, Pensacola Panama City area? |
First do not run. that motor when leaking fuel like that. It is a bomb ready to explode!!!
Several had suggested Wefings at Apalachicola. I had also suggested Posner Marine in Pensacola on Barrancas Ave. Take it to either of these. I have also used Lou's Marine in Gulf Breeze-down toward the Zoo on 98. _________________ Bob Austin

Your carbs are pouring fuel because your float is stuck - at least probably. As far as your lack of power or speed, it could be so many things. If you get it running right again, and I think you will as these older non-fuel injected motors are pretty simple requiring minimal tools to work on, you really should get around 30 mph out of it or a little more with a light load. The RPMs will be around 5500-6000k. My personal preference for full throttle power is as close as you can get to redline. I feel bad for your situation - I'd take it back....maybe....they don't sound like they know what the heck they are doing and that makes things tough. |
