I'm making modifications to my fresh water system. I will be installing several of these fittings. The ones currently on the boat seem to be made of some sort of black plastic (PVC?). I have found some similar on Amazon that say they are made from "high strength PPSU (polyphenylsulfone)" (sounds brittle to me). I've read that one should use fittings made of nylon. I see that such fittings can be purchased from Defender.

Anyone know the pros and cons of these or other options. Bottom line.....what should I use?

I have used mostly nylon fittings, but on occasion have used PVC. No reason not to use the (polyphenylsulfone)"--they are probably more chemical resistant...

Any of them should work as long as the size and thread pitch is proper.

Thanks Bob.....I'll go with the PVC. I can buy a convenient assortment kit from Amazon. BTW, I should have been more specific....I just need those fittings with "shark bite" at all ends. No threads required.

P.S. Here's a tidbit that will not likely surprise anyone. While doing research on this topic, I found nylon fittings at both West Marine and Defender. A tee at WM = $3.99; same fitting at Defender = $0.79 Wink.

Hi All, I did add a shore waterhose adapter to my water system. I can now use city water. I do live on my 25 and I got tired of having to fill the water tank. I did replace the : Y : fittings in the water system.I could not find them anywhere. I found them on the web. Be carefulel with the original hose. It may be brittle. I did use a marine brand water inlet fitting. My waterpump does have a check valve so The water does not go to the water tank. I have city water pressure. Works great for the shore and the sink. Thumbs Up
