17th Annual Catalina Off-Shore Adventure
Sunday, August 9, 2020 to Saturday, August 15, 2020

The 17th Annual Catalina Off-Shore Adventure is hereby scheduled from Sunday, August 9, 2020 to Saturday, August 15, 2020. Please mark your 2020 calendars. Yes, we are reviving this event!

See 2017 for details on this trip. We did not do the event the last two years (2018 and 2019) due to other conflicting boating adventures.

Please indicate 2020 attendance on this thread. All C-Cory’s are invited. There is no boat limit for this event. Also, you do not have to stay the entire time at this event, as you can drop in or out of some of the days.

More will be posted later. This is a good event to bring back to life.

Jim & Kath

Please sign up Far C'r and Vega to the Catalina Adventure! We are still making plans for the San Juans and unsure of the dates but it would be hard to miss this great gathering.

Could you post a link to the 2017 event. Is it at Avalon or Two Harbors? I have been to similar events (for Mainship trawlers) and they were held at Two Harbors. It was a nice gathering. The organizer got the SoCal Mainship dealer to kick in for the dinner which was held on the beach/picnic area at 2H.

David.

The event starts at Marina Del Rey and ends at Two Harbors.

Look up 16th Annual Catalina Off-Shore Adventure under search.

We were looking for an excuse to return to S. Calif. this summer--and this may be just it...but we arrived home today, after a 3 1/2 day 2200 mile dash between San Clemente and Pensacola. The boss says that she would only consider the trip if I would assure her a "leisurely 6 day trip across country"--so we will see. Love to visit Catalina and re-unite with our C Dory friends!

Dear All.

Due to the Coronavirus we are canceling the Catalina Offshore Adventure for 2020 (at least for myself and John E.). Two Harbors is still in a lockdown on the bar, restaurant, and BBQ facilities.

John (Dinner Belle II) and I do not think it is worth it to go now. We would have to stay in our boats the whole time and we could not socialize much.

So sorry that we have had to cancel this event that we so much look forward to. (I even bought a new small outboard motor for this specific trip).

Godwilling, we will reschedule this trip for about the same time next year. Hopefully we will all get to use our C-Dory's by then.

We had already decided no C Dory out of the local Pensacola area this summer. I think that you are wise to cancel the gathering. I would have loved to come--even if using my son's boat...

Jim, I agree and support your decision to 'bow out' of gatherings in the midst of
our national crisis. IMHO your reasoning is sound, logical and an example for
others to follow.

As an aside, your boat name (Pounder) is amusing and reminds me of a small OB
boat I owned years ago (Bow Movement).

Best regards.

Aye.
