Can you tell? It also is time to put in at work for my time off in 2006...Lets nail some of these destinations and dates down, and get some sign up sheets!

We're told that the rain doesn't quit in the San Juans until (maybe) mid-June. What is the normal for May? Rain, rain, rain? Should we hang out on Lake Powell (sun, sun, sun) until mid- June? When we hear a nor'wester, tired of rain, it doesn't sound encouraging to head up that way to cruise in rain. I know, the boat has 'a lid,' but continuous rain gets a little weary -- even to you, Pat, right?

Patty here. Personally I think May is/can be one of the nicer months, certainly better than June. June is traditionally rainy but I know I have said many times in May, "This is better than many days in summer." Besides, I want you guys up here sooner rather than later.

Bill,

"Normal" ain't in the dictionary up here. The San Juan's are in the banana belt, shielded by the Olympic mountains, and if I could find normal, there would be very little rain after March. Typically 18" a year...

Just bring that cute little chick up this-a-way and I'll talk severely to the weather guy. Great weather, guaranteed. Pat's right (except when talking to Patty) -- y'all come, and the sooner the better.

Dusty

What Patty and Dusty said - there is no "normal," May can be great and June crappy, or vice-versa. It always rains on the 4th of July, you can count on it! You can usually count on July 29 - 31st to be sunny and warm, but not always! The weather guessers say we are in for a wetter year than normal, which is kind of hard to fathom...and yes, I am weary of the rain, I freely admit, but I'll be damned if it is going to keep us off the water!

Hmmm -- thanks for the kind words and (hopefully) accurate predictions. We know that weather predicting is, as we used to say in Nevada, a crap shoot. Dusty -- my little chick (don't ever tell her I said that, even quoting you, or I'm meat) is ready to head up north "as long as sweet Dusty is talking to the weather gods." Probably be up your way in May, sometime, depending on how spring progresses and if El can pry me off Lake Powell.

The first Sat. in May (May 6th this year) should be the opening of our very short Puget Sound shrimping season. I'll be out somewhere then come hell or high water. Might be nice to do a CBG for shrimping on the 6th!
