OK, what happened to this idea? A Lake Chelan CBGT would be fantastic, looks like it has to happen in August...Fred, you want to organize that one, don't you! _________________

Why August? Isn't that the dry side of the Cascades? Why not get over there in May, and get into the sun? _________________ El and Bill (former live-aboards)

Speaking for ourselves, August because May has Lopez and Princess Louisa, June has Inside Passage, July has Bellingham, September has Desolation Sound, and October has Sequim. Hence, August...

Pat, I have been on Chelan in August and it is just to crowded that time of year. September or May/early June is best. I have to pass on Chelan in the summertime, sorry. |

I agree with Antia Marie. July & August are bad times for Lake Chelan. Too hot and too crowded. Late spring or late summer or even early October are good times for Lake Chelan. August is a good time for Puget Sound weather, so why not re-schedule more of the CBGT in August for Western Washington and the Eastern Washington get together when the weather isn’t so good in Western Washington. _________________ Dave

We'd show up the second or third weekend of May. The hills should still be green with a high probability of warm weather and before the Memorial Day blitzkreig. |

I'd go early (May) or late (Oct) too but there's nothing tearing me away from hot salmon fishing in the straits and the sound in August. The rainbows, lakers, kokannee and cutt's in Chelan are nice, but I need to fill the freezer with Coho and Kings in those good summer months.

Late September until the middle of October are the most beautiful times of year over here on the dry side. October starts in the mid 70's and usually stays up into the mid 60's until the third week of October. It's almost always dry from September until the start of November.
Also by mid September 90% of the people have gone home and you'll have the area to yourselves. The thermal winds caused by the hot days and cool nights have abated. Life on a boat, drinking a Snoqualmie Falls brew, on Lake Chelan in October would be good.

Lyle, I can second that. I was on Lake Chelan last year from the 16th to the 20th of October. CBGT or not I will probably go again this year, late September or early October. Most marinas on the lake, stop selling gas after the second weekend in October. Then the only place to get gas is in Chelan or Stehekin. That’s a long way between stations.

Uncle! Uncle! I just picked August because all the other months are pretty well filled up - mid October seems good, we'd be clear of Sequim by a week or two...any takers for a CBGT? |

We are heading north, berkley or boughtens, in the summer and idaho in the spring. We can not make desolation this year. We want to go some place different and while school is out. chelan in sept or october for 3days would be just great. 50 mile camp with its own marina sounds like the ideal spot. Half way up the lake and room for campers for those who want them and tents for the boys. 15 year olds must have room to move around during the day. Just some ideas. _________________ Thomas J Elliott
