|
|
I have some Marine Tex left over from another project and I'm curious if it will work for this. I have to reattach one of the ledges that supports the floor hatch panels under the galley table. This is the little panel under the table that lifts up for storage. One of the ledges became disconnected from the floor. It was secured with some type of staples. Since there's not much room in the storage compartment I thought I'd try using Marine Tex to reattach this.
Good or Bad idea? |

Nothing wrong with Marine tex. as long as both pieces are clean& dry & rough enough to bond to |

Although MarineTex can be used, there are other epoxies which are better. The MarineTex is thickened, and thus does not "soak" into the wood. If the wood is oily then the bond is not as good. I have seen MarineTex to wood fail. Even a 5 minute epoxy will be better. _________________ Bob Austin

I braved the Coronavirus last night and grabbed some Devcon epoxy and applied it. It's definitely easier to mix then the Marine Tex. |
