In the splash well of my C-Dory 22, I have a fuel selector valve to switch between the two fuel tanks. There is a decal mounted to indicate the valve handle position tank orientation. The decal is black and about 3 3/8" dia. with white lettering to indicate port, starboard, off and the word gasoline. The decal letting has faded and you can no longer read the words.
I tried to make letting from a label maker, but there is no UV resistance in these labels, so within a matter of a few weeks, that lettering is no longer ledgable as well.
I have searched for a replacement decal without luck and even contacted Moeller without luck. Yesterday I went to a sign shop to see about getting a decal made and they can meet my needs, but for the minimum cost of $35 + tax...
Do any of you know where these decals are available?
Thanks for your assistance in advance!
Best regards,
Steve Baum

Steve-

I had the same problem.

No decal will stay there for long.

I riveted a Red, a Green, and a Black plastic washer right next to valve on the fiberglass to indicate the Starboard, Port, and Off positions for the pointer.

I don't know about anyone else, but my fuel selector valve doesn't just point to the three detents for those positions, but several more also, the extra ones also being off, so I had-

FUEL ROULETTE: >OFF-OFF-STARBOARD-OFF-PORT-OFF-OFF->(REPEAT)

(This still the original valve from 1987 with no leaks, so, "if it ain't broke don't fix it"………………….! Laughing

Something had to be done, so that's what I did. It might work for you.

Good Luck

Joe. Teeth Thumbs Up

Another idea is go to an engraving business (awards, trophies).
They can inscribe it in metal or plastic and you glue it in place

Wag Aero or Univair companies are in the business of making such things for aircraft fuel selectors, which are the same as the one on your C-dory. Look them up on the internet and you will probably find something that will look nice and fight the UV as well.

Thanks for everyone's help. I am having a trophy shop engrave a plastic plate to take the place of the old decal.

I use a Brother label machine and their TZe label tape

or if you are very careful and neat, try

DYKEM Texpen industrial paint marker which is available in various colors. We use black.

or for other items, we go to an Awards shop and have them engrave plastic or SS tags and mount with super glue

Mine has no identification

If you can imagine a T

Top left seems to shut fuel off and collapses primer bulb

Right is for starboard tank

And bottom may allow fuel from both

Haven't quite figured it out yet

Like the idea of the trophy tags

Just don't know what to get or where to put them

There are two shops which appear to be near you:
Joni Industries,
16230 Aviation Loop Dr
Brooksville, FL 34604

All Stars Awards and Trophies,
7296 Sunshine Grove Rd
Brooksville, FL 34613

Google is your friend!

Figure out where the "pointer" is for each position: There should be "Port", "Starboard" and "off". I do not believe that any of these valves have an "all".

Here is an online place which will do 3 x 3" rounded corners, white with black engraved letters for $3.95

I found a local guy who was only a few miles from my house which did this sort of work as a paying hobby. It was about $10 for one the tags Yellow, black lettering, 3" x 5" capacity plate, exact copy of what was supposed to be on one of my boats.

2002 CD22 fuel selector had no "all" position. When my decal faded, I had a local jewelry/trophy shop engrave black painted aluminum plates (therefore very contrasting aluminum writing) with sticky backs. Worked great for 10 or more years and still great; also did some more plates for added switches on interior. Also great as you get the exact wording you want instead of some generic decal wording that will peel or fade.

Another in-expensive way are Bernard Identi-Plates: Downwind Marine has them in :"port tank" and "Starboard tank" on 1/2 x 1.5" black plaques with white engraved lettering at about $1.80 each. I have also seen Bernard "off' plaques in the same style. You can use several types of glues, or screws to fasten the plaques to the side of the splash well.
