OK, so there's a difference between the location and address.
I can get the address from the address bar on my computer and copy it on the clipboard and enter it to make a link., although it shows the entire address, not a choosen word that has the real address hidden behind it.
But where do I get the location? Thanks in advance!
Joe. |
Joe,
1) Go to your photo album
2) Go to the page of interest
3) Click on the thumbnail for the photo of interest - it opens in the same window (with a long url like the one you originally posted) and now you have the arrows etc. that allow you to page forward and backward through the images in your album. The long url refers to the page you are currently on - e.g. the page containing the menu bar, the sub-menu that allows you go back and forth in the photo album, the image itself etc. That is, the URL is not to the image itself but to that page.
4) To get a link (URL) to the image alone, ctrl-click (right click if on a PC) on the image and select the pulldown that says "Copy image address" or "Copy link to image" (it varies a little depending on which browser you use). THEN you will have a link to the image itself.
Best,

Here is one of Terri's pets, had him since he was 1 day old. The dog brought him home to her. Now he thinks he is one of the cats.

Roger-
Thanks for the detailed instructions!
I'll have to wait until tomorrow to try it when my head clears from all this tomfoolery we've been putting out today!
Dave-
That's quite a pussy cat! Must have been a lot of fun to raise. I've heard that as adults they tend to revert to some of their "wild" tendencies. True in your case? Joe. _________________ Sea Wolf, C-Brat #31

Joe; Rudy (the raccoon) will be two years old in a couple of months. Right now, it is mating season for raccoons, so he is not very friendly except with Terri. He is not confined and is free to come and go whenever he wants. He comes around two to three times a week usually at night, to visit with Terri and they play, but he is not allowed in the house anymore. Occasionally he will bring a friend or two with him for treats.
I expect during the spring and summer he will start coming around more often. Terri taught him to dig for earthworms and when she works in the garden, he follows her around and digs for worms and grubs. She also spent time with him in the creek catching little creatures to eat.
He is aggressive and will attack strangers and sometimes threaten to attack me, but I think he knows better most of the time. He has never shown any aggressive tendencies toward Terri. However, it does worry me because she will put her face down right next to him and he will pat her on the face and kiss her. The picture of him being held by Terri was Christmas of 2004.
The stories I could tell you about him would fill a book.

Special thanks to Pat , Roger, and the rest of you who have managed to explain the process to me of how to embed photos with the Mac computer.
I even embeded a Lake Shasta photo in my signature. (Big deal!)
Thanks,
Joe. |

Actually, I never lost my inner nerd (nor my outer nerd for that matter). To make matters worse, while I'm currently on the faculty in microbiology, my Ph.D. IS in chemistry so yes, I have taught chemistry classes. Sometime when we are at a gathering, prod me a bit - I've got some good stories about teaching chemistry.

Next question:
Do you have any control over the size (dimensions) of the embedded photo? Some appear to be much larger than others.
Is it the size of the file in bytes, or is there some other way to spelling out the desired dimensions?

Janet-
You're using the address, not the location. See Roger's post above.

Chris-
You're coping the entire address onto your bilboard, then pasting it into the new post with the brackets and slash, etc. You have to use the location instead.
What you need to do is go to the loation of the photo which is found on the thumbnail or miniature photo in your album just before you open the whole picture to view.
Put the mouse cursor over the thumbnail, push down on the control key and mouse, and a pop up list of alternatives (menu) will appear.
Scroll down the menu to "copy image address" and release the mouse and then the control key. Now the location is on the billboard.
Now go into the post mode, type out the message, and where you want the picture, drop down two or so return key storkes to get a space.
Now with the cursor blinking where you want the photo, go up to the Edit menu with the mouse and hit Copy.
This drops the location where you want the picture.
Add the at the end and you're done. (Unless you have more text to add.)
I think it's also very impotant that you use the exact right kind of brackets. You want the pair to the right of the "p" key, but not with the "shift" key pressed down, which changes their appearance and probably won't work. Use the lower case style.
I had to print out Roger's directions to be able to follow them and do the job when making all the operations the first few times. You might want to print out these.
Good Luck!
