Good Morning!
I have found a lot of good information going through past discussions, but I have not been able to find this specific combo's information. Does anyone know what one can expect from a CD22 with a 90 hp ETEC on it? Or any similar combo like a 115 ETEC on a CD 22 or 90hp ETEC on a CD 19.
Thanks

There is now a Gen 2 115 ETEC, but it’s so new there are likely no specs for a C-Dory yet. _________________ Paul |

The Gen 2 ETECs get about 10-15% better fuel economy than the older ones and have much better maintenance features. If I were buying new that is what I would go for.

2007 CD-22 with 2007 Mercury 4 stroke efi. Running aluminum prop 3 blade 14x13 or 4-blade 131/4x13. 3.1 mpg or so on plane, 5-6 mpg at displacement speed. |

Thanks for the info! I will definitely look into the Gen 2 ETECs.

Had an E-tec 90 on a previous boat, bought new in 2006, sold in 2011. Great motor, liked it a lot, but felt I was always at the gas dock compared to the Honda 50 that it replaced (this was on a 16' Arima). The price of more power I guess! Unfortunately didn't keep as meticulous of notes back then as I do now, so no clue on mileage.
Currently getting about 4+ mpg with my 2016 Merc 90 on the 22' Cruiser. Note that this generation of Merc 75/90/115 is a complete re-design from Colby's. The current model is larger displacement (2.1 L vs 1.7 L), yet about 40 lbs lighter. Also the Command Thrust version (the only version for a C-Dory IMO) swings a big old prop with higher gear ratio (I'm currently running a 16" diameter x 13" pitch, but have also run 15" and 17" pitch props with no problem, I just prefer the higher RPMs on the lower pitch). Compared to the E-tec, the Merc 4-stroke is much smoother and quieter. But I loved the small profile and light weight of that E-Tec 90, perfect for that old Arima!

MikeR- I just want to clarify, the 4+ is combined total mpg, like all the speeds fill up to fill up right? It is not a flow meter at a specific speed calculation? |

We have the CC-23 Venture With a 115 Mercury 115 CT We get consistently over 3.8-4 statute mpg overall and over 5.5 mpg at 5-6 mph .We run a 14 and 7/8 by 17 pitch SS prop WOT it reaches 5800 rpm I thought about going down to a 16 pitch but this one has worked so well for us .The e-tec does have a bigger gearcase like the Mercurys
BTW we traded this for a Yamaha 115 both ran about the same top end 35mph and similar But the Mercury handles so well around the marina with its bigger gear case /prop . _________________ retired 8/08 from UAL, still working pt tm

My CD22 And honda 90 on average get 4 gallons gasoline per hour. I like that just fine, considering that when we go cruisin we really car a lot of weight 2 aduls and gear, a 160 pound puppy, Gear, Food for every one....all that adds up. I am really pleased with 4 gallons an hour. Some day I will strip her naked and see if can get 4 and a half. _________________ "Proceed as the way opens"
