Thanks for posting the schedule. So far our plan is to arrive sometime on Thursday afternoon. We are looking forward the gathering.
See you there

Back from a great trip on the Inside Passage of SE Alaska, and finally catching up around home, slowly getting my schedule figured out for the next few months.

Rosanne and I will be at the gathering with Midnight Flyer, arriving Wednesday evening (Sept 4th) and departing the following week, Wednesday morning, Sept.11th. Not sure what we'll do the couple of days after the gathering. Perhaps spend a few nights beaching out in the evenings, or see if there are any other folks planning to stay a few extra days.

Golly, Marie asked for a copy of the "Sign up list"--and I found out we had not signed up. Wondered why I have been working on the boat for the last month?
We are now signed up!

We usually arrive at least a day early-finding that Labor Day is not a bad day to travel, as long as we get out of Pensacola early--and avoid the 100,000 or so people who went to the beach! We stay in Corinth Ms (where Marie grew up) the first night, and an easy drive to Alton. In the past Ken and Pat were already there, plus a couple of others? We do have to stop by our farm while in the "area"-which is about 200 miles North of Alton. May do that before the gathering, if no one else is going to be early.

After the gathering, we are still planing an upper Tennessee River Cruise. We can talk about the details, at the gathering for any who wish to tag along. The Cumberland only has 50 miles we didn't cover last year--and we will probably do it next year, along with the Ohio River. Alton to Chattanooga is 455 plus miles. That is a long day's boat drive for us. We would launch the next day, if we did it in one day. We may stop and see our relative in Nashville on the way, and stay there a night. (Alton to Nashville is 326 mi)

Starting at just above Chattanooga, TN, (or we could schedule a stop at Chattanooga, and aquarium) where we terminated the cruise last year, We hauled out on Lake Chickamauga, just above the lock. There are several marinas there, and we are working on a safe place to leave our rigs for several weeks. As well as the 176 more navigable miles of the Tennessee River, there are several very scenic tributaries: (Hiwassee River 22 miles),( Big Sandy 15 mi), (Duck River 15 mi) and we will probably explore them. Our plan is to move at displacement speeds in the interesting areas, and then up on a plane in some. We generally anchor out 2 or 3 days, and then a day in a marina. We usually eat aboard, but when a good restaurant is available, eat there. We will finish in Knoxville, where we have relatives who will take us back to the rigs.

Any who wish to join us, please feel free. No formal schedule! If you want details on charts, guides etc, please send me a PM or e-mail.

We also hope to see some of the "new C Brats" at both the gathering and on the after cruse.

See you all at Alton--thanks again TEX!!!

Does anyone have any ideas for a potential cruising itinerary for a week or two before and/or after the gathering? Any thoughts would be appreciated. I know Thataway is going to Tennessee, but I don't want to tack on another 9 hour drive.

Just wondering if there are any Brats going to the gathering that might be interested in a hitch receiver bike carrier. It holds up to 4 bikes, and I also have a custom cover that will cover said bikes to protect them from the road grime. (You can also place a lock thru the zipper to somewhat secure your bikes on the rack.) If anyone is interested in either or both, let me know and I'll bring them along to the gathering. Hoping to get $75 for the cover. The rack I'd probably let go for $25.

Good luck and stay safe to all our Florida C-Brat friends! (Or any where else the hurricane affects.)

Regrets to cancel, we're only to Amsterdam on the Erie Canal. Expect to load the boat Sept 9 at Pirates Cove and head back home to Pensacola for a long-delayed visit with an Orthopedic specialist. Lots of locks to go yet.

Thanks Tex! If Tex offers you a bottle of his honey, it's great because he only uses free-range bees! None of the tiny little chains and ankle shackles for his bees.

Safe travels to all!

John

Regarding the schedule for Saturday morning. I've been to the lock before with a private tour, so will skip that. However, wondering if there is dockage along the Lewis and Clark Interpretive Center & Museum if we'd like to boat down?

We will arrive Alton midday tomorrow. We are currently boater homing on our farm, about 200 North of Alton. ( inspecting tornado damage from last June. It took the roof & part of the sides of a 100 year old Barn.)
