Hello Brats,
Well, after 15/13 years as a lurker/member of this site my wife and I finally pulled the trigger on one of the C-Dory's listed here on the site.

I saw my first C-Dory on the Sacramento River (we used to live in Rocklin) sometime in the early 90's when I was out salmon fishing with a buddy in my 16' Western side console, I thought, "Man, that's a cool boat! I'd like to have one of those one day". Well, with life being the way it is, moving to AZ, raising kids, etc., etc., the boat thing never really materialized, until now.

Over the years we did manage to check out a couple 22 cruisers, which only reinforced our decision to eventually have a small, lightweight, simple, efficient, "boaterhome" in which we could do some traveling.

As I started getting closer to retirement (still a few years away) the Mrs. and I started getting our "boaterhoming" game plan together. Knowing we would eventually towing either a C-Dory 22 or Ranger 21EC I purchased a super low mile 2010 Tundra 4x4 a couple years ago which we currently use to do the "Overlanding" thing. We do enjoy simple, off the grid, get away from everybody, camping and the C-Dory should fit right in with our style of getting away.

To be honest, we really weren't expecting to get the boat for another couple of years but a good deal, on a nice boat, happened to pop up a couple weeks ago and I was lucky enough to be the first one to contact the seller, MUCH to my surprise.

After a quick conversation with the seller (a SUPER nice gentleman that I hope will end up being a long distance friend), a deposit was sent. Afterwhich, many pics/documentation were sent, a few more phone conversations had, and a deal was made. The end result being, the beautiful bride and I will be heading out 1 Aug to pick her up. I may have told the seller more than once how excited we are. I'm glad he's a patient man.

Anyhow, it's been a long time coming and I'm super excited to finally become an "official" C-Brat.

LET THE MODS BEGIN!!!

Allen

Hello Allen, and welcome to the site by a newbie and part time 'Zoner. Lot's of good guidance and advice from some pretty terrific people here on this site. Oh, and make sure you attend one of the CBGTs! We did just recently and were so warmly welcomed into the fold that my wife has become so enthusiastic about cruising and meeting like-minded people.
Cheers!

Yeah, I'm a bit disappointed there's no Powell gathering this year.

Where in AZ do you spend time Steve?

We were in Prescott, but recently moved to far north Phoenix. Prescott didn't "seasonally compliment" our spending the other half the year in WA.

So what waters are you planning on using your CD in?

Once retired, everywhere.

Until then, long weekends will most likely be spent at Powell or San Diego. I do get 6 weeks vacation every year so, we'll do some longer trips too.

Of course there's the Salt River chain of lakes of which I like Apache the best. And, maybe down to San Carlos and the Sea of Cortez.

Allen, Welcome to officialdom, and congratulations. Being in the "Brat " community is awesome. Super folk in great boats and in lots of places. Everything you could want to know about the C-Dorys is here somewhere. Search, Look, Ask and pass it on. You have already been peeking around here so you know about the photo albums. Send a PM to Mike or Bill (admin, top 3 in the memberlist ) and let us watch the mods.

Harvey

Allen,
Congratulation and welcome to coming-out and an active group participant. The C-Dory was a fine choice and I too am very fond of the gray trim.
You will never regret owning, modifying and using this boat.
Happy future travels and hope to meet you and your family one day.

There should be a group gather at Oak Canyon, about mile 50. The organization is a bit loose, and doesn't usually come together until later in the season. Normally the third Saturday in September.

We really enjoy the"lost coast" north of San Carlos, beautiful remote coves and incredible desert hikes.

Congrats! Wow, you're a VERY patient and methodical man.
When you go out for ice cream does it take you an hour to decide on a flavor?? Lol
