Very interesting website. Would be nice if SeaGrant had a similar site for anchorages and information nationwide!
Hmmmm.....

Thanks El & Bill,
we will be using the information when we head to the west coast from Fort Pierce. Do you know if the East coast has a similar site?
If anyone knows of any places we should visit while were there I would appreciate any local knowledge. This will be our first trip with Stanley-J (Plan-B)
We will be driving down next Wed the 1st and stopping at Fort Pierce to visit some old sailing friends. We plan on heading over to Fort Myers to see more family and then up to Orlando...yep ..more family. I hope we get to launch the boat once in a while. I hate to just tow it down to Florida and back and not get it wet....ha-ha
So..... anyone with some suggestions other than don't visit the relatives and friends. _________________ Chuck

Hello,
Just adding my two cents. Coastal Georgia has numerous beautiful cruising destinations, Jeckyll Island and Cumberland Island, to name a few. I don't know where you are driving from, but I just did a trailering trip to coastal GA and FL Keys. I have read your posts about your trips and would like to get some more info on the Bahamas. We were thinking about a possible Bahamas or Dry Tortugas trip. SW Fl would be great in the 10,000 islands area.

Chuck --
There's a cadre of C-Dory owners in the Keys this winter -- they are doing some planning of cruises along FL west coast -- how about it, Casey, Fred, or George? Want to chime in with some of the ideas you're kicking around?
We loved Pine Island Sound, s.w FL's Ten Thousand Islands (sure agree with you, Les -- and about coastal Georgia), the Everglades and the Keys. Great winter cruising down thataway. |

Hi Stanley-J
I'm in Ft. Pierce as I write this.
Down on a job hunt, the place I worked in Ohio sold out and we don't like the cold weather any more.
Anyway I'm here without my boat. But there are plenty of places to get your boat wet, we have cruised some of the Indian River.
Two good launch sites are at the causeway bridge to South Huttison Island, one on each side of the bridge. The island side is a little less crowded with a nice big parking lot at the park there.
Anchorage page that El & Bill sent does show some good spots and we have stayed at some of them. We found one that's not listed but can be seen in the picture of Mantanzes Pass if you look in the upper left corner of the picture you'll see a small island, stay between the island and the mainland. Out of the west winds off the channel and very quite. Another one in the area is NNW of Punta Rossa but watch the sand bars SEATOW showed us this one.
