Yes tue we will go out and try to get the same bucking we will hook up computer also flow meter see if we have fuel pressure in the injectors Thinking it through I think It could also be a coil problem so will check spark plugs also .really thought it was the low pressure pump but have not ruled out anything yet . I’m thinking also of putting aluminum pickup tubes instead of plastic I wouldn’t be surprised if it was a combination of both?
Stay tuned
I love my Merc but not used to problems Jim _________________ retired 8/08 from UAL, still working pt tm

We took the boat out and ran it for over three hours almost non stop from 4000 rpm to over 5000 rpm trying to replicate the same senerio Trying to make it buck or fuel starve The engine ran like a champ could not get engine to make the same as on Last weekend We had the engine on the computer but no codes and no problems
Thinking an electric problem with coils or ignition Still haven’t ruled out water in fuel or bad pickup tubes??
I will do a tuneup this Summer new plugs oil change lower unit change and check coils for bad resistance again Then pr ay to Cdory gods for no problems ha ha Jim |

Any tips for removing the fuel pickup. I have removed the tanks for better access. I am afraid of damaging the tank with too much torque. It won’t budge. Tried some penetrating oil with no luck. _________________ Patrick Rohde

Finally got it off! PVC pipe over wrench handle for more leverage, more penetrating oil, and it broke loose. |

Also the code that did show up on my smart craft was the
Throttle position sensor it said it was non critical We ran the engine today for over an hour no problems and no new code on computer. Also the sputtering happened on both fuel tanks
We did readjust the throttle cable 1 1/2 turns to go into gear better I will be doing a tuneup and checking coils again next month and maybe redoing the fuel pickups ? |
