Hey Pubsters,

Well we got the Denebola christened and out for the first official shake down. Finally got some pics. in the album too. WE LOVE THIS BOAT Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy.

Okay, fogging up the cabin was a real problem and not just because the lovely Terrie was on board Wink . I looked at other threads in the Pub but only found talk of the "ceramic de-foggers" which didn't seem to get very enthusiastic results or feedback. I'm going to look into different mounted fan options and wondered if anyone has pics. and/or advice on keeping the entire cockpit cleared. When we are on the bays there is usually much traffic and the lovely Terrie needs to see everything while at the helm!!

P.S. Roger, thanks again for the pics. you sent of the davit mounts. Big help Thumbs Up.

We keep our front opening window open a crack, and each of the side windows open a half inch or so -- has worked perfectly for us to keep the windshield and side windows clear. We have a fan, but have never had to use it with the windows ajar. Of course, we don't heat coffee water on the Wallas or cook when underway under misting conditions. Trust this simple solution might work for you guys.

El and Bill,

Thanks for the tip. We don't have a front opening window on our 16' but we did open the side windows which helped while we were underway. When we were just idling along though, it fogged up rapidly! Do you have your fan mounted? Any pics?

We don't have our fan mounted. It is a small fan, enclosed in a plastic housing, that runs off the 12-v cigarette lighter. It's a cheapo unit, I think bought from West Marine but maybe WalMart. With its portability, we have used it for a window defrost (rarely), and to distribute the hot air (from the Wallas stove) from the cabin roof to the cabin floor and keep our feet warm on really cold nights. It also 'saved our lives,' or in the very least our temperament, one very warm night on the St. Johns River in Florida, when we had a 1-year and a 4-year old in the V-berth panting from heat and crying -- the nice 'cool' breeze from the fan (and its re-assuring noise) had them in la-la land in less than a minute.

El and Bill,

Thanks for the information. It must have been really hot Hot Angry.

There is an older thread that got going again that relates to this subject as well. It is called stoves and heaters I believe. Good stuff from Sea Wolf on there.
