Hi Gang,
I have an 1984 22 Classic that I keep in a dry stack here in Kemah, Texas. The lift operator bent my bow rail while moving the boat and the marina wants to replace it for me. They've been looking around for an exact replacement. Does anyone have any idea where they came from way back when? TIA!

Mike

I need a bow rail for my 1999 22 Cruiser. Here's come excerpts from my email correspondence (December, 2018) with the current supplier...

“We do have all the templates for building these bow rails for all C-Dory boats however we are not taking any jobs at this point that is not outboard transom bracket related until further notice.”

“We sell the complete rail for $1350.00”

I wonder if you could both work with NMI so whenever they place their next railing order (from PDR or otherwise), they could just tack on a couple extra 22 bow rails? From the photos I've seen the Classic bow rail looks identical to the current rail, or at least close enough. That's great the dry stack facility wants to replace it for you. I've heard horror stories at other marinas where they aren't liable even if they cause the damage...always curious how such a scenario might play out where my boat is dry stacked.. but hope to never find out!

Mike

You can rest easy Mike as I have a funny story to share.

C-Dancer was brand new in 2005 and we kept her at Twin Bridges dry stack storage from the very beginning. We had only taken her out one time before. On our 2nd time out, the forklift operator had problems taking her off the rack. When he brought her down, we noticed the front of the bow rail was bent straight up vertically. Being brand new boaters, we were kind of unsure what happened but quickly realized it wasn't right. Twin Bridges took responsibility right upfront and made things right by calling the factory and getting a replacement right away. Even installed it. Talk about great service, they knew C-Dancer was brand spanking new and that they had made a terrible mistake.

Funny thing was, we noticed not long after, the forklift driver no longer worked there. We always wondered if the "misjudgement" on his part cost him his job...

Thanks for all the helpful information! I have a really good repair guy here in Kemah and I'm gonna ask him who could do a local fabrication. If that doesn't pan out I'll contact the factory. Thanks again!

My local fabricator said to make a new one would be maybe $4K. Yikes!
