Hey, Byrdman, nice to hear from you. You're not forgotten 'round these here parts, and I hope you're doing well. Thank you for all you and the Johnsons (and Tom & Susan) did to make such killer boat show bashes in years past!

The message I'm feeling is that this SBS will be comparatively quiet, which is just fine. RobLL and Harvey, et al, perhaps something spontaneous will spring to life if we happen to meet at the C-Dory booth. No expectations.
We'll just make sure to meet on the water in '19.

There are some great free classes the first weekend. Think I will aim for some of that. Probably renew the Boat US towing. If you live in Washington, the Recreational Boaters Association of WA and Boat US combine to offer a discount on memberships.

Does anyone have a good idea how bad the traffic will be with 99 closed down?

Hey, Harvey, thanks for the link to the seminars. I'm going to try to make a few of them.

Forrest, don't let the 99 closure keep you away. I think we're finding up here that it isn't the traffic horror show we feared. At least so far. It really depends on the time of day we travel. Commuter traffic is reliably more congested, but my guess is you won't be in a miles-long backup at, say, 10 a.m. Saturday.

Byrdman, Catman will make a leap for you in March, and after spring planting. Be well, all of you.

One last comment: Yesterday I bicycled Bainbridge Island, but first made a spin around the Exhibition Center where the show is being assembled. Lots of boats inside, and many more parked outside ready to be towed indoors. Quite a production. I saw three Sea Sports and two C-Dorys. A 23' Venture and a red 22' Cruiser.

I was at the boat show today, and attended two presentations - boat detailing and smartphone/pad and boating. Both were worthwhile. Rodriguez who did the later is also known for his blog Bitter End, now hosted on Facebook.

I looked at the C-Dories. The aft area on the 22 looks a little different. Gas tanks are broader, and well different, couldn't quite nail the differences.

Much of the rest of the show was about the same. My wife may join me for a second visit - our neighbor at the condo is showing some really nice boats at Lake Union.

ps - if you can show using public transit you get $6 off the daily ticket price.

"The Boat Show, The Boat Show, The BIG Seattle Boat Show"
Do you know that jingle? Well yes, it is BIG. And good. And this year I did it different, major different.

Almost 3 full days of classes. Batteries, Tablets, No Fridge, VHF Antennas, AIS, Docking Twin Engine Boats, Radar Upgrades, Anchoring, Going North, and NOAA weather and more, all covered, learned something at each one. Some classes were more educational than others than others. Got to meet several C-Dory owners, some new some looking, some past, and some happy and satisfied.

Good to see some Brats in attendance. Broch, Brett, Andy, Sam, & Fred and Robbin, Al and Karen, (Sure hope you two were able to stick together the rest of the time), Karl and Amy.

The Promised 26 Venture was not there. I think that was a poor marketing move as there was not a "move up" or "move down" option. I noticed that the V-23 with all the fancy headliner and fine trim had a "SeaDog" anchor holder, and the CD-22 right nest to it had a Lewmar. Neither of them were self launching. Both had "deck pipes".

It was really worth going to, Could be expensive, definitely fun, and always exciting (I did my first rickshaw ride since RVN), getting from the parking garage over to the CL Center.

I did miss having a C-BRAT CBGT there.

Tom, at that low price I think you should pick up a couple of those Teddy Bears.
I had fun at the boat show looking at all the sparkling new boats and products. But more important than the dazzle were the Brats. Good the see the regulars, though MikeR eluded my radar and my drone didn't find him, either. Met Randall, from Pt. Angeles. He's got a Tom Cat, and plans to shoot across the Strait to explore the San Juans and Gulf Islands, and to join us at Friday Harbor.

Yup. It was great meeting some Brats at the show. And, yes, once I get some work done (the list just keeps getting longer) I'll be out on the water with you guys.

That looks like a fantastic boat but there seems to be a lot of weight above the waterline?
