So I bought a 25 ft last year. Had the Navman fuel flow meter
I did not know what it was or how it worked my fuel guage quit working and a friend said I should get fuel meters. Well I found out I had some
However it quit showing letters and numbers. There is a repair person in Virginia That can fix it. For less than $100 he will fix it and send a video of it. If he can’t no charge. There is a kit if you want to fix it yourself.
So that saved me hundreds. If you have an old Navman and the screen has quit showing info, you might give him a shout. thomas.stevens@cox.net

JKSWOR,
The Tom Stevens in Williamsburg, VA does a wonderful job of repairing Navman instruments. He has repaired numerous ones for me. My Navman instruments are on my sailboat and several of them are exposed 24/7 to WX/UV, because they are mounted on the cockpit bulkhead. Though they have a sun cover, they still see heat/cold/rain.
Most of the instruments fail because the continuity film between the screen and the circuit panel come unglued. Tom removes this and installs a zebra strip (silicon strip with many carbon strips laminated in the silicon). The zebra strip is installed under compression, between the cover and the circuit card, so it will not come unglued over time.
I recommend that you do not spend your money on the kit. I purchased one once and was not careful enough when removing the old glue, so the solvent caused damage to the screen. The unit worked, but after Tom fixed several of mine, I found that he is an expert and worth the extra few buck.
Best regards,
Steve Baum

How do you tell the Navman Fuel 3100 that you just filled the fuel tank. We just bought this boat and the Navman is showing 3/4 full when I just topped off the fuel tank.
How do I calibrate it??

Joconnor,
You can still read the instruction for Navman fuel instrument here: http://www.navmanmarine.net/upload/Marine/Internet_Manuals/2000/2100_fuel_MN000207A_eng_web.pdf
and here for all of the instruments:

Jim,

When you read the manual, you will see that you only need to punch a couple of buttons simultaneously to reset the Navman after filling; but also you'll need to check at least once that the unit is properly calibrated (also in manual). Calibration entails burning a known amount of fuel and then setting a one-time calibration factor in the unit.

jennykatz,

Just try cleaning that sensor and spinning it with a breath. The sending unit gets "dirty" and needs to be cleaned every year or so.

It's just a turbine wheel and a magnetic pickup, so there's not much to go wrong. I have to do that on Journey On every year or so.

The Lowrandce and Navman used the same transducer. Not sure if the current transducer is the same--but it should be.

The current Lowrance fuel flow meter is a NMEA 2000 bus device. I looked at the Navman manual and it is not clear to me if the Navman works the same way.

When I installed the Lowrance system FF system, I also had to install a NMEA 2000 backbone and a compatible GPS receiver.
