I’m planning to be up in Fossil Bay at Sucia the last weekend in September. Just starting a thread for others who might like to meet. I hope to arrive Fri evening 9/28. No sign up necessary, just a casual gathering. _________________ Brett

Kathy and I have hoped to be cruising up that way (and into Canada) that last week of September. Turns out there are conflicts in our schedules. I'm going to try to move them, but I don't give it much hope. Anyway, if we can swing it, we'd love to be there. Love that time of year! |

Brett, thanks for posting this. It's busy at work and I may not be able to get Friday off, but will do everything I can to make it there, even if just for Sat/Sun. Looking forward to it!

Hey, that sounds like fun. I just returned from 10 days of Gulf Islands/San Juan splendor, and wasn't enthusiastic about being pulled back into the city. I could have gorged on several more months.
So count me in if the weather is reasonable or better. By the way, we saw a memorable splashing and leaping orca show a week ago today near Matia. |

Could be a possibility. I will need to be doing some testing of some electronics adjustment and if the weather is OK for crossing Strait of Juan I would be in for it. In the last 2 weeks I have crossed 4 times on glassy water. Twice on one day; has to be a record.
Hope you have a great time Bret. Would love to see you on the water again.

Harvey, hope you can make it! Current forecast for this week including Fri/Sat is as good as it gets for the East Entrance (1 ft or less), but we all know that can change between now and then. Keeping fingers crossed!
I did manage to get Friday off work, so will be staying on the boat in Anacortes Thursday night and departing first thing Friday morning (unless it's foggy, in which case I'll wait it out).
Brett, I can bring a little fire wood as well. There are fire pits everywhere. Also a really nice covered/enclosed group picnic area by the inner dock, if it rains and it's and not already claimed.

Looks like I will be taking Missy solo Friday evening. Melissa and I were just up there a couple weeks ago and itching to explore more of the island and meet a few more of you. |

Harvey, I hope the Strait is sleepy and cooperative for your crossing this week. It'll be nice to see you again if you're available.
Mike, that's gotta be photo-shopped. Or 1964. One vessel at Sucia, the whole place to yourself? Dude, you scored that day. My recent visits in the last seven weeks found three-story stinkpots and their dinghies had devoured the docks. And those who could snug up and make room for a small boat pretend they don't see me. There were exceptions, however.
Missy, I look forward to meeting you. |

Brock, Bret et al, I can hardly wait. I have a boat check guy coming to check some electronics and if he gives me an OK I will be crossing when Mr Strait allows. Be good to get to see you all and be on the water again.
Listen on 16 for an "any C-BRATS" call.

I will not be able to make this outing at Sucia. The weather seems to be looking great but the limited time I have and the long run from Des Moines Marina is going to keep me at home.
Typically i would push off Thursday after work but i wouldn't be able to depart until Friday night. It's just too far without taking time off work.
Sorry to make the post and then back out. Cbrats will gather without me i'm sure.
I need to retire........... |
