I need a forward pointing flood light or spot light.
Has anyone installed one ?
If so, what did you use and where is it mounted .
Pics would be great.
Thanks |

This topic comes up every couple of years or so. Lots of discussion about which brand to use, whether to mount it on the bow or the cabin roof, how to eliminate blinding reflections from chrome railings, night vision, how to hide the wiring, wired or wireless controls, etc., etc.
Also, many folks now use just a hand-held plug-in portable light instead of a permanent style installation which is both cheaper and more flexible. (Another example of "less is more"!)
Try searching for "spotlight" and "searchlight" with the search engine:

You need to decide if the floodlight is a need or a want. I have one. If you discount the times I used it just to see if/how it worked, the times I actually used the floodlight for real in the 5+ years I owned my boat is ONCE. |

Joe, Nice answer. As to the blinding reflections, I recently saw a boat that had the bow railings don in flat black "Linex" bed liner. And he had several hundred watts worth of LED bar lights on the cabin top.

I recently installed an LED light on my Bow Rail. I haven't used it on the water yet. I did notice a problem when I tested it the other night, that being reflections off the anchor. I may have solved that problem by painting part of the anchor flat black. Photos in my album. _________________ Peter & Judy Haase
