Just listed yesterday.
https://miami.craigslist.org/pbc/boa/d/catamaran-tomcat-24/6692463563.html
Please!!! Somebody buy this before I do!
I grew up watching NASA launches out of the window as a kid and the 24 Tomcat just brings back so much space shuttle nostalgia for me that I can Almost justify it to my wife... Almost.
The (always inaccurate) photos seem pretty clean compared to some of the 2006-2008 C-Dorys we looked at recently.
Ad states it's missing the port side windows (plexi-ed), has twin Yamaha 100's (no hrs listed), new trailer, and from the photos it looks like it needs a new stove and head at the bare minimum. |

That does seem like a pretty attractive asking price to me having watched these early Tomcats pop up for sale occasionally over the years.
It will be a tough sell in Miami or anywhere in the SE. Not as much of an issue in the PNW where it was designed, but the swept back windows of the early Tomcats would make this boat uncomfortably hot in the south. Also they had some issues with their scuppers. The later models are better, and much better looking in my opinion! _________________ 2007 22 cruiser sold 10/2021

I've been on a friend's TC24 many times here in AK. To me, I would never own a TC255 - Heavy, more power needed, more fuel burn, much more expensive - but lust after the 24s. The ride in these light 24s is incomparable in 3-4 ft chop. The fuel economy is comparable to the 22s. The comfort level is awesome, the cockpit space is plentiful and the front design gives huge visual field. Solar gain is even a plus in AK. I've helped dismount the 24 for bottom painting. Wouldn't dare do same on 255s.
So if anyone knows more about this Miami boat, I might even consider a 5000 mile road trip. Guessing they are original motors with high hours which would be a deal breaker. Friend's 24 was bought in CA with new ETEC 90s and high end electronics for under 45k. What a steal. |

I spoke to the owner: boat had some damage from storm which is why the window needs replacing. Only other damage some scratches. Hull intact
Does not know engine hours, they are carb’d not EFI.
Think it’s been parked and forgotten a bit. |

If the engines are in good shape, this could be a steal!
homerjack is spot on... if you can deal with the tiny head under the steering wheel, the Tomcat is a killer boat. I average 2.3mpg and drive as fast as possible at all times. If anyone has any questions, PM me. I have some videos linked below of our Tomcat- Oski on the water here in SoCal. _________________ Tim

trpsurf, I watched the video on the Channel Islands. That's great photography and entertaining. Your daughters are wonderful, but watch out, they'll become teenagers. Enjoy them now.

I’ve owned a 22’ and have ridden on the 24 Tomcat many times and I currently own a 255.
The 24 is nice but not even close to being as fuel economy as the 22. And the ride is much smoother in 3-4 foot chop in the 255 compared to the 24. 255 is a heavier boat but a much better boat for offshore excursions. Depends on what you want to do. |

"Not even close?", I get about 3.1 mpg @ 20kts and Tim says 2.3mpg @ sounds faster than that. Friend's 24 about same. Your mileage may vary. |
