Not happy with my lewmar 700 on my 25 . Want a quick release system so I don’t miss a spot. Don’t think the pro fish lewmar is trustworthy. Read many horror stories
Read about a windless made by good. Nothing but good reviews
Anyone know anything about the Good windless?

From what I have read on the Hull Truth forums the Good windlass are suppose to be one of the best out there.

What issues with the 700?
Did you contact tech support.

Common issues is wrong size rode and poor wiring.

Since I'm diving on the spots I anchor I prefer to feed out the hook slowly and hold my position using the throttles and GPS. Nine times out of ten my anchor is within five feet of my target.

One site I dive frequently has a barrel placed along the edge of the reef in sixty-five feet. On many occasions I have descended to find the anchor leaning against the barrel. Holding the boat over my coordinates allows us to find the anchor at the end of our dive rather than having to make a free ascent, causing a surface swim back to the boat or worse, surfacing around boat traffic.

Issues are: by the time I get ithebanchor down I have been blown off my mark. If I go out to release by hand same thing. Up here in prince William sound there are small shelves where that are shallow around 125 ft. If I miss it can be 250 or more need a quick release as opposed to slow. Also it wants to eat my chain splice. I have to go out and help it. It was put on in 07. Like the pro fish but have heard of problems. Thanks

As I posted earlier. Spend the extra dollars on one of these.

Just a note on the Good Windless. Two models, up to 34' boat and bigger boats. With or without chain/rope gypsy. You can only use their rode/chain combo, others will not work and you get BBB period, no G4. A link:

They have a great reputation online for their service/repairs.

Just a note on the 700, I upgraded mine to the proFish had no problems. You do need to install all the upgrades, and for best results use 8 plait line.
