We have a CO detector that is hardwired under the steering console; the alarm has been sounding even though we have fresh air circulating in the cabin. We also have a back-up CO detector from Home Depot that does not sound off. I thin the old CO detector may be bad but not sure if I'm missing something. I welcome any inputs, thanks.

Well you said you’d welcome any comments so I hope you will forgive this stupid question. Does your hardwired CO detector have a backup battery that could be low or dead and it is beeping to warn you of that? Does the Home Depot detector have a current blocking tab that needs to be removed for first use? I ain’t sayin’, I’m just sayin’.

The question asked on the answers of your original post on the subject was how old was the wired in unit. If it is as old as the boat--the sensor is bad, and you need a new unit. There is a finite life; usually 5 to 7 years because of the reagents used in the detector. As I mentioned in the other thread you started, I use the Home Depot with AA batteries, and digital read out...replace every 4 to 5 years. Safer and cheaper than the hard wired units.
