Richard, that's a very funny picture and she's an awfully cute model. I'm just comforted by the fact that you had the good sense to cloak her, because nudity has no place on this family forum.

Do cats really like the marine environment ? They seem so moody! No offense to cat lovers. Lol

Spoken like someone who has never had a great cat in his life - sorry for you. Lol

There are some dogs that love being on a boat; some that quiver and cower when put on a boat. We have been fortunate that each of our furry family members (cats, Lol) have wanted to be where we are. And all have done fine on our boats.

After losing our sweet Izzy in January, we welcomed another great cat into our family two months ago... Rufus hasn't been on our boat, yet, but not because he doesn't like it - we have been in the dry ol' desert (where we adopted him). We just recently returned home, got the boat launched yesterday. We'll see how Rufus does with the boat, but this non-moody boy likes to be where we are - in the house, in the motorhome, in the car... and yet to be determined on the boat.

Molly the boat cat was happy to be in the boat... because that is where we were. Izzy did her first overnight on the boat about a week after we got her, and for the next several years, spent more time on the boat than in our house. Because that is where we were. She was a delightful little traveler.

Rufus is another shelter rescue, and is grateful to have a forever family. Lovey. Nothing moody about him. So far, he likes every environment he has experienced with us. When I told him what you wrote, he said, "I feel bad for him - he has never been adopted by a cat. Or, maybe he's just moody?"

Lol. That Rufus has a great sense of humor.

Interesting James! Thanks. I saw a cat at my marina walking around the docks last year. I found out it was one of the slip owners cats (obviously). Some of my neighbors told the dockmaster about it and he told the guy that his cat couldn't walk around without supervision. Do people even walk cats? Leashes? Not sure.

But it makes sense. My marina is pretty big (600 slips). Lots of kids and elderly visitors walking on the docks. It could be an issue I guess .

Our cats have been leashed trained. I even heard about a guy who wrote a book about traveling by boat and RV with their cat who, incidentally, walked on a leash...

Rumor has it that many C-Brats have their own copy of this book... seems that a C-Dory is prominently featured in the book. Also, from what I gather, the book is highly recommended by the author.

Lol Cool

Rufus (the new boy) walking his person on a leash...

Yes, people do walk their cats on a leash. I read about it right here on the C-Brats, so I know it must be true. I know you are a student of C-Brat things, here's a link...

192 pages, over 500,000 views - right here. Who knew? And, a blog approaching 1,000,000 views. Much of it about cats... 'cause apparently cats are "a thing" on the internet.

Richard. I just love those hairless cats. She must have really long back legs to get up that high!! Our jack russel just hated the boat. Not going to try the new 75lb Shepard tho. Hate to have to clean up those football size turds off a nonskid deck!!!

We once met a boat in the Bahamas that had circled the globe. They had adopted a cat in Egypt. When they arrived in their dinghy the cat stood in the bow like a figurehead, jumped aboard and made herself at home atop the furled sail. We were told that while at sea she would go on deck at night and feast on any flying fish that had been lured aboard by the lights playing off the sail. The cat seemed at home with the cruising lifestyle.

Great replies and pics. Ken, It was actually Carlee (that I loved) pic. I have that for my screen saver on my phone. What an awesome dog.
The cat (Slimey) is new and actually my grandson from my youngest daughter. My older daughter has given us two grandsons. Both 22 yrs old now. I cannot wait to see how Slimey reacts to the water. (being on it, not in it) The major difference of dogs and cats of course.

Keep the pics coming. GREAT entertainment value. Thank you

Richard
