I mentioned in the Hontoon Island get together post I was planning a cruise down the Tennessee River and back up the Cumberland River in April. I am on track to get started this Saturday at Knoxville, TN. I plan on taking about 30 days to get to the Roaring River boat ramp near Gainesboro, TN. I will travel over 950 river miles on this trip.
My brother Tom will take my truck and trailer back home to Lake Keowee, SC after I launch in Knoxville and come back with them once I get to Gainesboro.
If any C-Brats plan to be on these rivers in April let me know and I will keep and eye out for you and you can watch for me.
I will try and add some updates to this post as I make my way down and up these rivers.

I am on the river. Instead of updating this post I am going to try and do a daily blog and update it when I can get connected to the internet. You can go to this site if you want to follow along
https://mysterygirlcruises.wordpress.com
and you should be able to sign up for email alerts that will be sent out when ever I update the blog.
That’s it for now.

Great first day of your blog. The pictures are very well done and give a fine idea of cruising the Tennessee. We're looking out at a fresh snowfall and it is April Fools day, but this is ridiculous.

Hi Bill
Been following your blog with great interest, really appreciate the time you are putting into it and the pictures. We are going to do the same trip except starting in Granville and the Cumberland down to at least Chattanooga.
Just wondering if you are keeping a Track Log on your GPS and if you would be willing to share it when your voyage is over. It would be of great interest to us as we make our way on the river. |

Bluechablis,
I am keeping a track on my chart plotter and would be glad to share it with you if I can figure out how to save it and remove it from the chart plotter. Not sure how much help it will be seeing how you will be heading in the opposite direction from the way I have been going. For the most part you will be on the opposite side of the river that I was on. Not sure about the Cumberland yet but the Tennessee is a lot wider in places than I was expecting. There are some long wide stretches that can get pretty choppy if the wind is blowing down them for any lenth of time. You will have no trouble navigating the Tennessee, it is well marked with bouys and structures with beacons and daymarks and I expect the Cumber.and Wil be the same.
The two guide books by Jerry M. Hay have been very helpful with lots of good information as well as Active Captain if you have access to it.

Thanks Bill
Depending on your chartplotter there is sometimes an option in Settings that allow you to export your Nav Data to an SD Memory Card. If your plotter doesn't have that feature or you can't figure it out that is ok.
As for the data I would add it to my map, there would be a lot of info there on where you went and places you anchored which would useful to others.

We can't wait to follow in your footsteps even though it will be going the other way |

"If some of you were hoping for comments and updates on marinas and restaurants, you may have already figured out that I am not the guy for that. I much prefer anchoring out in secluded remote spots and will eat most of my meals on the boat."
I was going to ask you but you just answered my question. I like to anchor but I also like marinas because I like to explore the towns on my bicycle.
Get read and thanks for the blog! |

Patrick,
The dock in Nashville wasn't to bad. There were only a couple of tugs after it turned dark. Some of the ones that did go by rocked Mystery Girl pretty good. Yes I am sorry we didn't meet up in Clarksville. I am going to be at Mike's tomorrow. Looking forword to meeting him and B. It was nice to get on Old Hickory Lake today and out of the strong current for awhile.

Bill approached our dock apx. 1000 hrs Friday, 4-20-18. We got him secured and plugged in to the yellow ambilical. Had a GREAT visit with Mr. Bill😁! Check out his blog! I could go on but I’d only be redundant! What a beautiful boat💥😁! Got “Mystery Girl” under way this morning, 4-22-18, to complete her journey. Thouroughly enjoyed our time with Bill. _________________ No Mo Yad Work, Get On Th'boat!!! |
