I have never had an issue with houseboat generators either... but at times you do hear the air boars in the middle of the night--the other "hazard" are the bow hunting boats with their bright lights...also they tend to run Honda generators, so the noise is not too bad... We just sleep thru it all.
Good point by Roger about the Bike Week. We enjoy seeing the different bikes and groups. We were in Datona several times during Bike Week--it is a very interesting venue. Nothing like Sturgis, However. _________________ Bob Austin

Florida Senior Citizens.....No more discounts for slips at Hontoon Island and all other State marinas. Florida has a new computer system for slips. Still...cheep at $20.25 per night.

Thanks for the "head's up"--I didn't see where this made it onto any web sites, but on the other hand, many other state park marinas were not $20 a night to begin with. As I understand the state fee system, the State Park Marinas can charge from $1.00 a foot/night up to $3 a foot a night!
On the other hand, a 60 footer on an end tie with 50 amp power is getting a real bargain at $20 a night! |

At Casey Jones RV park. Super owner; ex sailor& tells me another C dory stops here regularly.
Only one dog harness forgotten—resolved at WAlly world. One destroyed trailer tire; looks to have delaminates. Temp was only 103* about 20 min before.. Good I brought the impact wrench!! Changed along I 10 shoulder. Could not find the key for spare cable..lucky I brought a drill & drilled out the lock. Hacksaw would cut the hardened cable.
Be good to be on the water tomorrow, |

Don't think I'd want to have to change any tires along I10! Hopefully it was a wide shoulder, and not raining. We got to Rosanne's Uncle's today in Trenton KY. Leisurely two day drive down, splitting the 560 miles with a stop for the night at the Mattoon, IL, Cracker Barrel! Mostly drizzle and rain today. Still on schedule to leave here Friday morning, spend the night in Tallahassee, then on to ED Stone sometime around noon on Saturday. Late note, just thinking, how much farther past the Flying J west of Tallahassee, is that RV park, and what do they charge for a night? If we are running a bit ahead and still have some daylight left (rare, but does happen...) might be worth considering. Colby |

I arrived at Ed Stone Boat Ramp a little after 7 tonight. It took about 12 hours to get here. I didn't push it and stayed in the right lane pretty much all the way with quite a few stops to stretch my legs. I will spend the night in the parking lot here. There is only one other truck and trailer here tonight. The directions Tom and Bob gave from I 75 to Ed Stone worked great for me. I will probably head north on the river at some point tomorrow.

Loree and Jim,
This is my first trip on the St John's but I would say the water level is up. I think the bridge at Ed Stone was showing about 15 feet of clerance. There are eight boats here now. C-Otter, Crystal Sea, Wee Bit, Blue Days, Lake Effect, Two Bears, Thisaway and Mystery Girl. Six of us are headed to Silver Glen Springs and De Leon Springs today, returning to Hontoon Island on Monday

Carl ......Sorry you can’t make it this year but take good care of your partner and see you next year.
8 Boats here at DeLeon Springs. Pancakes for breakfast. The water depth is just doable.
Heading back toward Hontoon tomorrow. Some will go to the park and some stay on the hook till Monday.
Till then....Tom & Joyce on the C-Otter |
