Hi, Susan and I are thinking of going to this show and getting away for the weekend. Has anyone been to it in the past? Is anyone thinking of going this year? We like going to Victoria for a get way, one of our favorite citys. We are looking at air b and bs but have not picked one yet. Does anyone know of a floating home for rent. This time of the year and because of work we are going to take the ferry over, Which means Vancouver because the San Juan ferry to Sydney is not running in the winter. _________________ Thomas J Elliott

Just a thought. I love Victoria, Sidney and Vancouver Island.
Enjoy,

Tom, I researched B&Bs around Victoria a year ago for a trip we ended up not taking yet. There was a spot somewhere close that had a bunch of houseboats for rent. I stoked them off my list as they were ridiculously expensive and not all that inviting to look at. You were also not guaranteed to have the boat to yourself unless you rented all the beds
We did find lots of B&Bs around that looked very appealing and reasonably priced. Read the fine print though - some require a large security deposit - others have a cleaning fee that isn't included in the price. Some also look well priced but have a minimum stay - some by the month.
Regards, Rob _________________ Talk to me and I will listen-- but if its not about boats or fishing all I will hear is bla, bla, bla, yada, yada, zzzzzzzz |

Hello all. The Victoria boat show was tight on space so they have moved to Sidney this year. Details at https://www.bcyba.com/events/bc-boat-show/. The Sidney/Anacortes ferry resumes April 1 so that will be a convenient way to get there. You could even do it as a walk on. For the side trip to Victoria the express double decker bus only takes about 40 mins and then you can sample the local beers without stress. 🍻 _________________ Chimo: a word of greeting, farewell, and toast before drinking once widely spoken in the Inuktitut language in northern Canada. |

Chimo I was talking about this show. https://victoriaboatshow.com/
Are these different shows.?
Harvey from my house the coho would twice as far and another ferry ride from Edmond, no thank you.
We have looked at a lot of air b&bs. We have used air b&b in the pass and understand the ups and downs. If you are looking for one in Vancouver make sure it comes with parking because most do not.... found out the hard way. |

Tom, You could do a walk on from the dock in Port Angeles. Also there is the Victoria Clipper which has hotel packages too I believe. Sure, an extra ferry ride, but just count that as boating time
Interesting that there are 2 "boat shows" in that close proximity and even that far apart in time.

Hey Tom. I go to the show every year just because it is here. Not huge by any imagination so probably allow 1 or 2 hours max. It is Island Outfitters gig and I have heard they limit other dealers such as Trotac Marine which is definitely worth stopping by on Gorge Rd for a browse. If you and Susan are up for a get away weekend for sure pop into the show but not just for that alone.
Cheers

I agree an hour or two max, for exhibits but if you love salmon fishing I would try to catch a seminar on fishing with bait from island outfitters. Trotac has a no admission fishing show sale, worth stopping by at as they supply all of the guides on the South Island. Not sure if the Victoria Harbour Ferry is running but it is worth getting a hop on, hop off day pass if they do as many tourist enjoy it and they run up the gorge to Tillicum bridge where it is about a 15-20 minute walk to the show. My C-Dory will be moored across from there in March for Halibut season! You might want to even skip the show and come in March if it officially opens and go for a charter with No Banannas or Blue Wolf Charters. Enjoy either way |

We have done the in harbor ferry before. I just want to drive it so its not fun just sitting. Where are the seminars? I did not see any on the shows page. We would love to come over for some halibut but not with a guide. Thats why we have a boat. |

Well due to Susan not getting over being sick this whole week, I was hoping she would pull out of it before the weekend, we decided last night to not go. Sorry. She has had a sour throat and bad cough all week with fatigue. I told her to suck it up and she threw things at me so its a no. |
