Fishing topic is getting thin lately! Heading to area 7 in the am for blackmouth! Less than 1', time to fish! Anyone fishing the Gardiner Derby(Olympic Salmon Derby)?

Oh meteorologists..... I want their job, you can be right less than half the time and still get a paycheck. Weather in the morning changed to 2' with small craft by the afternoon, from less then 1'... Still got in one keeper and released 2 "oh so close" and a half dozen sub legals....following seas running home from Hien to Keystone and sunshine to wash the boat in. Not a bad day.

How's the weather been to fish Kachemac Bay? I never fished the winters while I lived there...

Typical winter weather, flat one day, stormy the next. Always chilly. But winter kings are awesome.

Scallywag, Did I meet you headed northerly on the hiway around Port Orchard, Gorst yesterday morning. I only got a peek due to the traffic. I was headed towards Tacoma on a motorcycle. Would have been around 10AM. Beautiful day.

I was going to fish black mouth last weekend and bailed because of the last minute small craft advisory. Bummer. We'll try again this weekend!

Kevin,

Good news is area 8-1,8-2 & 9 open on the 16 as well. Lots of protected fishing. If you're over by Langley stop in the harbor and have a beer!

Yep, I'm pumped. Hopefully I can get out once a week until it closes. Always a good time of the year for fishing!

Went shrimping south of Lopez Island on the opener, yesterday, May 5. 3 nice limits of spot prawns, 80 each.
Saw Scallywag launch on Friday night at Cornet Bay and run out. How did you guys do, Brewkid?

Sorry for not stopping by and saying hello! I thought I spotted a couple of C-Dory's on the dock Friday!

We made a last minute decision to spend the weekend in the San Juan's and an even more last minute decision to make a run for Friday Harbor that evening instead of staying at the dock in Cornet until the morning like we had originally planned. We left just around 7:30 pm out of Cornet and made it in about an hour just as it was starting to get dark. Light chop on the water made the hurried run a little bumpy and Cattle Pass was also confused with the wind and tide. Saturday night we stayed in Roche Harbor to be closer to where we normally shrimp. So that kinda explains the scurry at the dock!

We shrimped on the afternoon tide up by Spieden Island on Saturday and then again on Sunday morning and did horrible...We normally have no issue pulling limits there, even with a crowd, but not this time....We totaled less than 60 for the 2 days with 2 pots.... We did have several hook-ups with lings and had one nice keeper so that helped even the score. We like the area for that exact reason, drop the pots, start ling fishing, check the pots, repeat.

With as nice as the weather was we could have caught nothing and it would have been an amazing weekend!

Glad to hear you guys killed it out there!!

I'll post some pictures up soon!

I spent Friday night in Aleck Cove on the south of Lopez; had my cup of coffee at 5am Saturday; then started setting pots about 5:45am. Pulled both pots about 8:15am, and did very well indeed.

I'll be back at the south of Lopez this week on Thurs, Fri, and Sat. Much more convenient tides <grin>.

I really like those early morning tides, something about getting up in the dark and going fishing!
I'll be out there this Saturday, too so will look for all you C Brats!
