I agree does not seem all that feasible a story. He had just bought a 21' "Angler" walk around for $3500. He was headed to Nassau--but went via Bimini--where he apparently spent a night. Then he was going to "beat the weather" (140 miles in 4 hours!!!), and ended up on Andros where he spent another night, (which is only a few miles from Nassau)....apparently ran out of gas (the gauge didn't work.) and drifted for two weeks.
The gulf stream current is from minimal up to 3 mph. The high velocity band is narrow, but without power, it is almost impossible to get out of it, if you are in the main stream--there are some counter currents. No way this guy could have known all of those.
He claimed the boat was filled with water on the 26th--had used flares but no help. Water running low--used only one bottle a day...Not much. Wind has been out of the North, which would give some serious seas at least part of this time.
No PLB or Epirp. No radio. Ignored bad weather/thought he could outrun it--with no knowledge of fuel consumption, or how much fuel he had. Poor navigation. Did have some water and minimal food.
Lucky to have survived:: and had been rescued about a year ago in the Bahamas. This guy is a lifeguard at a resort! _________________ Bob Austin

"I never had a doubt that God was going to take care of me," Moss said That reminds me of the story of the guy who stayed in his house during a flood. As the water was rising a rescue boat came by but he sent it away saying "God will protect me." Finally he's on the roof and a helicopter comes and again he sends it away with the same message. Ultimately he drowns and arrives at the pearly gates and asks God why he didn't protect him. God of course replies, "Hey, I sent a boat and a helicopter..." _________________ MartyP

""I never had a doubt that God was going to take care of me," = I didn't learn my lesson and I'm going to waste more public resources in the near future. He is apparently arrogant, foolish and, as pointed out, not prepared.
He is also young. So, most likely it's not over yet. He'll go out again...
Grandpa seems to have this one right.
Aye.
Grandpa used to say, "The sea simply takes the innocent but actually stalks
the foolish, the unprepared and the arrogant." _________________ "I don't want any cake" - said no one ever.
