|
|
I am looking for a picture of the fuel tank for the 22 foot cruiser and also a place where I can buy replacement tanks in Canada if possible.
I just went out to check on my boat and both fuel tanks are missing. Not, a very nice surprise, but now I have to figure out how to replace them.
I intend to report the theft to the police and post it on Facebook so if anyone that any pictures of their fuel tanks, I think it would help a lot toward identifying them.
This is very disappointing and of course, I won't be going boating until they are replaced.
Thank you in advance for your help. _________________ Gypsy

These our photos of the tanks on our 2000 CD 22, taken when I was changing out fuel lines & fuel pick ups.

Thank you. Those look like they are a little different shape than mine were. Mine was more rectangular, but yours look like they would hold more fuel.
I wish I had taken pictures when I replaced my fuel senders last summer. |

Fuel tanks seem like an odd thing for someone to steal.
If they had much fuel in them, it would be a big PITA. |

I think these are considered the 25 gal tanks, but I can’t quite get that much in them. About 23 max. |

I know. It is the last thing I would have thought of. They were about half full of fuel and I'm sure they wouldn't fit easily into very many other boats.
I'm just glad that I had taken most of my electronics out of the boat. |

C-Gypsy sorry to hear you got ripped off. Happened to me once in Tahsis. A real bummer.
Port Boathouse in Port Alberni used to be a C-Dory dealer.
I would give them a try they may be able to order from NMI the correct tanks. |

FWIW, the tanks in my '07 CD22 are 23 gal and made by Moeller. Sorry, but I don't have pictures. |

Oh OUCH, sure sorry to hear of that. Was the boat parked there by your house? That is really pretty daring. Might also want to post on any bulletin boards near the marinas, and call or send to any local marine repair facilities.
Maybe the silver lining, it would be a good excuse to replace and update the fuel lines now. Did they cut them?
Pretty low rung on the humanoid ladder to do that.

Thank you Stefan and Greg.
I didn't check the lines and it is snowing a lot here today so I will wait for a day or so to look more closely.
I already need to replace the steering and now the gas tanks will be another major expense.
I'm in no rush to find out what it might cost me to replace the tanks and lines etc and the labour involved. Hopefully it won't be too difficult, but I have a feeling it might be.
With our Canadian dollar being so low, everything we buy the US is really expensive.
Not to mention if I need new gas lines, I also need to change the fittings on the motors because I was told by Honda that they don't make the same fittings anymore that were in the older motors (1999).
Maybe I will stay on land and save myself a hole lot of time and money. I probably won't but between the steering and now the gas tanks, it will be an expensive summer. |

Moeller Marine still has the Port and Stb FT 2339 and FT 2340 23 gallon tanks listed as available--these are 23 gallon tanks and were used many C Dorys. There is an option of 18 gallon tanks which fit under the splash well also. Other 25 gallon Moeller tanks are about $250 each...

Thank you. I have contacted them to see if there is a place I can buy them in Canada or if they will ship them across the border.
I'm also wondering if there is a slightly larger tank that will still fit in our boats. |

I still can't believe someone would go to all that trouble to steal installed gas tanks. It is a sad state the world is in. |
