how is the 70 hp Yamaha working for you? How many hours you got on it so far? Would you do it again? Love your glass work

The new (2010) F-70 has only required fuel filters going through twice in about 1400 hours total now. Where it beats the ole (2000) F-115 is in zero condensation in the engine oil, ever, and no major failure like a gasket going out and letting water in. I think that shortened the life on the 115.
I have come to prefer the SOHC over the DOHC because the valve adjustment goes easier than ever! not even needing a new gasket to do the service. Most of the time I don’t miss the power difference because there is almost always chop to slow down for, and I can lob on some awesome batteries instead.
The top was redone, stripped down about 60 pounds forgoing the hardtop it once was. Getting into shellfish this year, the netting overhead is strong enough to hang me traps to rebait… I never was that one coming ;D besides that, it holds anything one needs to hang out to dry or just store, like a second paddle board these days.
The compass seems unaffected
but really, i rarely used it, it’s just there to look cool ;D I could never get it perfectly dialed in anyway. I still have the ole GPS in place, that makes 3 total now.
And LOL, a panic button ;P I didn’t want to put the hard wired button in but I found it best to! there was a fuel meter there that took a crap years ago. Touch screens aren’t good in a hurry, when I’m setting me traps, anyone at the helm finds the thing really handy.
Next on the list is to remove the analog tach to house a cup holder. |
