Just completed our first overnighter to Oriental, NC and it appears water is leaking from under shower/head platform. There appears to be a hairline crack on the deck of the corner that is in the cabin of our CD 25. I believe our weight forward, at night, allowed the lower bilge water to work it's way forward to the crack and out into the cabin.
I have siphoned the "fresh" water I could reach out and will be better about checking for any water in there but is it an issue for water to get that far forward?
I do plan to repair the crack ASAP.
Shocked

I should have added that we did not use the shower and it was not toilet water.

First--a photo of the crack area would help visualize exactly where this is.
Ask the moderator for a photo album.

Yes, water will drain forward--if it is in the aft bilge, or under the floor pan of the head. Many boats are different. Some older 25's had a step just inside the door, with a bilge pump there, a bilge pump just aft of the fuel tank (under cockpit floor) and even all of the way aft

Places to look for leaks--#1 is the shower fitting under the galley--some boats are still showing up with improper match of threads in the shower fitting to hose fitting (British vs American Standard threads). This tends to have a slow leak when the pressure water system is left on. Some boats have had sealing compounds put into this joint--instead of proper matching of the threads.
2. Getting some water on the pan in the head, and then a leak at the show drain fitting.l
3. Overflow of the shower sump (on opposite side.
4. from aft bulge, and the aft bulkhead, or the sump under the step is not properly sealed. The aft bulkhead (which is cored) should have tape to the hull both on sides of the bulkhead. This is not done in many boats. I have seen some where the fiberglass tape (should be layers of mat and cloth, with a fillet to round the seam) did not adhere well to the hull.
5. loose hose clamp
6. water heater
7. if you have marine air conditioning,--the condensates are not draining into a sump--but rather into the floor
8. A leak around some fitting on the deck, or aft bulkhead--I found one from hand rails on several boats.

Bob,
Thanks for the info. I will request an photo album. I also plan to put some colored water in the back bilge to confirm where the water is coming from and position of the crack in the cabin.
We're loving our decision to get this boat and this forum(community). CoolSmile
