Mike, they no longer have a dock at Doe Island. You could try the county dock at Olga, it is near by.

Oh no! Doe Island was my favorite!

Maybe James Island, then, if they still have the dock there. Isn't that the island with a bunch of deer on it?

Not sure about James Island and the deer, but Jones Island does have lots of deer.

Word of conscious on Jones, Stewart and James. Bring a big bungee to strap your cooler closed at night. The raccoons are bold and this time of year food is getting scarce. We have had stuff taken in the past and many more attempts. They dont care about the dog at all. Last time at Jones three of them were trying to get the lid open, but hey they took the trash bag to shore for me.

Our original plan was to spend a week+ on the water going first to Canada, then the weekend of 9/29 at the Stuart gathering; but due to having to be in Seattle this weekend, and having to meet a 10/15 tax deadline (I am a big procrastinator Laughing), instead we will be heading to Cap Sante on Thursday........doing lots of loads via cart to convert the boat from the crabbing/shrimping boat it's been this summer to a cruiser once again.

Knowing how we roll, my guess is that we will only get to some anchorage on Blakely, Sylvan Cove on Lopez, or maybe Blind Bay if time permits. Then on to Stuart Friday arriving early afternoon. We will leave Stuart on Sunday mid-day, spending the night on the hook in some anchorage before heading home on Monday.

P.S. I intend to attempt to use the MMSI feature on my VHF. I've been meaning to do this ever since I read hardee's excellent posts on the subject. Listen for me.

Tosca, thanks for the mention but there was lots of good folks helping on that thread.

Here is the C-BRAT group number for any interested.

Quote:
That stated C-BRATS Group MMSI number ( 036697831 ) seems like the likely suspect.

036697831 = C-BRATS Group MMSI # on DSC

and the thread (I believe you are refering to is "Communicating on the water and Sandra on C-Gypsy started the ball rollling. It is here:

http://www.c-brats.com/viewtopic.php?t=24129&postdays=0&postorder=asc&highlight=mmsi+number+practise+practice&start=0

I tried the group MMSI call again last weekend around Everett WA, with no response. I didn't do an "Any C-BRAT" audio call on 16, so don't have a comparison test.

Hope y'all like clam chowder. We will whip it up on the boat when we get to Stuart Island.

My MMSI is the same one I have had all my life. Truth be told, I can't even spell MMSI. We will be the ghost ship.

I just checked the state web site Stuart Island state park. The fire level is at a #2 which means fires are allowed in a fire pit. So if you can bring some dry firewood if you can.
The weather is looking promising so it should be a great weekend.

Got a welcome at Oak Harbor from Fred and Robbin and then a visit on the water with Brock and Dana. Well, Brock said her name was Denise but he has been wrong before. It was nice to meet her and to see the old friends.

We are tied up in La Conner for the night after a flat calm cruise over. Tomorrow morning we will head out of Deception Pass to start the island adventures.

Thanks for a needed dose of Institutional Control, Bill. I was really shocked when I read that.

Mike! What a delightful surprise to see you two out on the water today. The timing was just right, as if we'd planned to meet at that time and place. A Tyboo Salish Sea sighting is pretty dang rare, making today's hook-up really memorable. Your boat and new motor sure look good together. See you next weekend, and have great big fun up here in the meantime. Weather looks warm and dry.

This is amazing! We have Matia Island all to ourselves, there is not a whisper of wind, and here is a picture of the clock in the boat showing the temps.

So looking forward to this. Too bad my wife won't make it. But I will and I need it. This has been a summer of "non-boating".
