Hello to All, and happy holidays!
I am new to the C-Dory world. Not yet a C-Dory owner, but an intrigued boater. Currently I own a Catalina 27' sailboat, and 16' center console runabout. I am gathering information to possibly make a jump from the Catalina to a C-Dory.

The 25' Cruiser tops our list of potential replacements.
My question to the group is, 'How well does the C-Dory handle rough water at speed (3-4 ft wind driven waves)? Is the C-dory a vessel that requires decreasing speed to overcome the pounding, or is it viable to pound through comfortably?

Also, If the owner of a 25' cruiser named "Ocean Avenue" reads this forum, I took a few photos of your vessel while playing around in the ICW, one day, between Blind pass and treasure island near St. Pete Beach, Fl. PLease send an email to JasonRademakers@msn.com and I would be more than happy to forward the digital photos.

For the rest of the list, I saw this on yachtworld.com .

I feel as though I missed another good buy, and its so close to home.
Good luck to the future owner!

Fair seas to all!
Jason

Welcome Jason!

I'm sure many will answer your questions on the 25'. You certainly can't go wrong with a C-Dory. In rough seas you'll need to slow 'er down a bit, but you'll definitely make it to safe harbor....definitely "seaworthy".
Thanks for the "lead" on the advertised 22', if Byrdman doesn't purchase it, Dusty will.... Laughing

JRad.... welcome to the group..... we've had our 22C C-Dory for a year not and put in at John's Pass (Veteran's Memorial Park Ramp). Previous boat was a 22' Chris Craft deep V, and I'll take the C-Dory any day and sea condition! The Chris had to do 25MPH to stay on plan, the CDory will plan as slow as 9MPH. Result the Chris you bounced from wave to wave and shook your teeth loose a 1 1/5 MPG or went at displacement speed. The C-Dory will stay on plane while cutting thru the waves at 10 to 15 MPH and a 5MPG! As testimonial, in waves, my wife was always telling me to "Slow Down" in the Chris, but never once in the C-Dory. The C-Dory really likes 15 to 20 MPH and in the ICW, there's rarely a boat wake that I have to slow down for.

We fish in the boat quite often and run up to 50 miles offshore for the grouper. Occassionaly we've caught some wind and waves that have slowed us down but no more then we've had to slow down in siminiliar conditions in my buddy's 23' deep V.

Also, it's a GREAT boat for Florida. You need to get out of that summer sun and the C-Dory fits the bill while it has enough opening windows to keep you comfortable on the hottest days.

Look for you on the water

Welcome to the Pub Jason!!!
I think the move from the Catalina to the C-Dory will prove out very well for you !! What bring this to kind is that I met a fellow at the Factory this summer, when I was picking up our 25 (after 100 hr service), that had just sold his Beneteau so that he could get a C-Dory. He ordered a Blue 22 , if memory serves me... but anyway if a Beneteau owner moves to a C-Dory ,something is akin between going from Sail to C-Dory... you will be in fine company. Glad to see you here
.
