Trim tabs are a bit of a chevy vs ford deal. I have Lenco electrics and love them. I can't find a reason not to get them. Simple to install, work great, no pump, oil or reservoir to worry about. 5 years and no signs of corrosion. Boat was in the water for two summers. I have had them on two boats including my current one. One thing I would upgrade too, and most likely will soon now that the tech is here, would be auto leveling. One of my pet pevs , of which there are many to choose from, is not having the boat level 100% of the time. I hate when someones walks from one side of the boat to the other and I have to readjust the trim. And I HAVE to readjust the trim. Drives me crazy to ride in another persons boat that does not notice or care about trim. Side to side or even front to back. I hate it.
So all the trim tab makers now have auto adjust. Its not just side to side but also front to back. It will also adjust the trim in corners for a flatter turn.

these are the three major brands. Zip wake is a re design of the old QL Volvo system. I have not used this system but do like the looks and the way it works. Would love to try it but I already have lenco tabs and will most likely update those with a auto controller. _________________ Thomas J Elliott

Lenco Standard Trim Tabs 9x12.
Inexpensive, easy to install, and work like a charm for me (for side to side)
I do have permatrim also though to get the bow down. |

Boat Leveler is another trim tab company which has been used on the C Dory. The bottom line is that they are all good. 9" x 12" is the size. I currently have Lenco, and have had them on a larger boat--no problems. Probably the best service is from Bennett.
Agree that the Permatrim, is also a good addition, along with the trim tabs. _________________ Bob Austin

The "smart tabs" don't do the job. You want real adjustment. The automatic will trim the boat as you want, side to side, but may not give the amount of "down bow" you need into chop. |

Bob, if you read or watch the links I gave you will see that the auto tabs work front to back and side to side. They even take speed into account and turns. Its a new world over the old bubble level and switches. Its tech from your cell phone. They use the same sensors your phone does to tell which way you are holding the phone. Great new stuff. |

I have Lenco Electric. I love the idea, but my T-tabs are too small. (9'W tapered to 8"W by 9" long.) They need to be at least 144 Sq inches or better. Getting 12" wide on a C-Dory makes for a REALLY tight fit. If you can get 10"s Wide by 14 long I'd go with that. The added length will be more effective at slower planing speeds without adding as much drag.

Anybody tried interceptor tabs? Certainly it is a nicer installation (at least on the outside of the boat). Haven't seen what's on board.
