Has anyone had any trouble uploading photos to their albums lately or is it just this new computer and new camera we got for Christmas? After it says "Uploading, please be patient", how long should one wait??? You'd think 30 minutes was long enough to upload 4 photos?? Could be the computer operator. _________________ Pat and Rick |

Hey Rick,
Are you on a dialup or broadband connection? _________________ Will, C-Brat Nerd |

Well, I just uploaded my first picture and it took about 2 minutes with my cable modem...
Seems to be working. Good luck. _________________ -Rod

Dial up. My son spent all day hooking things up and transferring data from two other computers to this one, so there could be some gliche we haven't figured out yet. I didn't discover this problem until he left. He's on his way back to Salt Lake right now.
Rick won't have anything to do with it. I'm the wannabe "nerd" in this family. I'm sure I'll probably figure it out if I play around with it long enough. I didn't have any problem before. Thanks,

Hi Pat,
Here's the rub - photos straight from your camera are usually really, really big files. It doesn't surprise me at all that four of them would take over 30 minutes to upload on a dialup connection.
You can significantly reduce the upload time if you resize them ahead of time - while the Photo Gallery software will do this for you, the original, bigger file has to be uploaded first.
What, if any photo software do you have on your PC? If none, I can recommend a freebie that works great, and can do the resizing for you - IrfanView.
When you resize, make them 800x600 pixels before uploading. This should shrink the photos quite a bit - it will probably only take a couple minutes per photo to upload.
Give a holler if you need more help. |
